This has long been a favorite design and fabric of the Vermont Country Store repertoire. Several gowns of recent years in this design were of very poor quality fabric. I am delighted to say that the new gown in tender rose and leaf motifs, is of the finest sturdy infinitely soft Portuguese cotton flannel~ a perfect nightgown. With pockets, no less. Perfect. Am very grateful to the Orton Family and staff.

Rated 3 out of 5Â by Comfort dresser Not so sure I like the changes
I've worn these nightgowns for years. I've always loved them, especially the large neck opening since it makes the nightgown more breezy and a little less frumpy than traditional flannel nightgowns. That being said, I hate, hate, hate the addition of the pockets. I don't need the extra bulk and I don't need to carry anything in my pockets at bedtime. I'll now have to spend extra money to take this nightgown to a seamstress to have them removed. And I'm not sure I like the heavier flannel. I'll have to wait to see if it becomes less bulky and more fluid after more washings.

Rated 4 out of 5Â by ShelbyB Insane sizing, but nice nightgown
I got this for my mom for Christmas. She's 5'-5" and usually wears a 1X-2X. Ordered her an XL and even after it shrunk a little in the wash, it's a little big yet. So I would say probably order two sizes smaller than you normally would. Minimal shrinkage and most of the shrinkage was in the length.
Great fabric, very warm gown. Mom approves.

Rated 3 out of 5Â by tamoshanter Lovely, but incredibly large!
Usually my shopping on your sight is confined to window shopping, so to speak. I simply don't often order $60 nightgowns-- but I was tempted, and finally decided to treat myself as the weather turned cold. I ordered too large, but in a nightgown larger is better than smaller--I ordered the 3X but my true size would have been a 2X. All that said, this is the biggest nightgown I've ever had, dragging the floor and I'm 5'6", and extremely voluminous thru the body. The real problem, though, is the neckline-- it is huge--as someone else commented, it would fit a linebacker! And it is cut as low in back as it is in front, so it just falls off the shoulder constantly. I measured, and the neck opening is 15" wide at the top, and the vertical is 6" deep--both back and front are cut the same depth. I will have to do alterations both on the hem, and on the neckline to keep from freezing to death!
I love the gown, and want to wear it and enjoy it, but the neckline is truly impossible to wear in a chilly house in the morning!

Rated 3 out of 5Â by Esri Excellent fabric, Made in Portugal, Odd uncomfy fit
I looove the fabric. It is quite thick 100% cotton flannel made in Portugal and especially after washing/drying very soft.
I got a small based on other reviews saying it is cut very large based on normal sizing. It is hard to explain but the cut is too narrow at the base and when you walk it's like where your knees and feet should move freely the flannel isn't loose enough. Although at the top it is plenty loose. I am 5 '8" and it comes to my feet. Nice for me but it would be way long for anyone shorter. While the sleeves are a tad short. I will keep this because it is soft and warm but I will probably add fabric to the bottom to make it wider. It's such a pity because it's close to being great.

Rated 2 out of 5Â by nandugben The new fit is all wrong..
As previous reviews have said I loved the old design and needed a new nightgown since the old ones had become worn. I wear a large and this thing was huge when it came and did not shrink much. It was very soft but kept falling off my shoulders so that was really annoying. It's also much more bulky than the old design and made me look like a linebacker. Really the only thing I liked was that it was very soft. Unfortunately I will not buy again. Would love a flannel nightgown that is somewhat flattering. This isn't it.

Rated 3 out of 5Â by lookingforabetterfit only if your 5'6" or taller
I am 5' 3" and this nightgown hangs to the floor. If you want a nightgown that hits the top of your ankle bones, the perfect length, and you are under 5'6" do not buy this unless you want to do some hemming. For close to $60 the length was a total disappointment. This gown is listed at 48" but who actually measures. It was 2" shorter than most of the nightgowns which are listed at 50". I can't imagine why a gown would be made so long. Better a touch short on tall women than sweeping the floor on someone less than 5'6". Otherwise it is a beautiful gown with nice thick soft flannel, straight cut, flattering and comfortable neckline and side pockets.

Rated 5 out of 5Â by Hotpotatoe So nice teenagers love them too
I started searching for purtugese flannel after buying a gown at a thrift stores. My 18 yr old college student said to me "where's mine I thought you got me one". So I wound up here and I can safely say these gowns are so superior to the thrift store find or any others. Both my girls have 2 each and they love them. I love my 2 new gowns too. This one is so pretty and feminum. Love the neckline at first neck was cold but whe I let my hair down its perfect. Really love this gown. Thank you Vermont Country store. I think I've bought about 10 now. Especially love your label!
