how did I manage before? This is either the same product or very similar to one my mother had. It never crossed my mind to try and find it in this day and age. I was thrilled when I saw it available here. Really don't know how I managed without it for the past many years. It is a wonder of many uses for tired old hands, or strong young ones whose owner is smart enough to use this and spare them the torture of toughing open jars and bottles. January 22, 2015
Gillhoolie Rocks! I've owned one of these for about 30 years. Bought a second one at a flea market, but my daughter saw it and snapped it up. I've always joked that with a Gillhoolie you hardly need a man! It will open everything from a nail-polish cap to a huge jar. It also has a pry-thingie on the end. This is a wonderful tool, and a great little gift! January 6, 2015
The Best Jar Opener at Any Price! My father bought one thirty years ago after he passed making it is mine now, and I have had it for twenty years. I have used it for opening just about everything down to jars & bottles that have been sitting for a year. It is perfect. December 31, 2014
Best ever bottle opener This is great, especially for someone who has arthritis in their hands as I do. December 18, 2014
"1950's" kitchen flashback When I was a young boy growing up in the 1950's we had a Gilhoolie in our household to open bottles and jars (twist-off bottle caps weren't around yet). After our parents' passed my sister took custody of the contraption and still has it today. It's working just like it did 60 years ago!!! Talk about durability! Anyway, when I discovered this kitchen utensil was again available I leaped at the opportunity to obtain one. It works just fine and does everything it's designed to but I do have one reservation. Although it's made of stainless steel, just like the original, it just doesn't have the heft of the original. December 17, 2014
Hard to use I have the original one for around 45 years and love it. Wanted to get my grown children one as it is the best ever. I was happy to see the Vermont store carrying one that looked a lot like mine. GOt it yesterday and decided to try it. I had nothing but trouble trying to move the sliding part. It kept getting caught on the ratchets. Took a long time till I was able to figure it out. The mechanism is different than the original and is not consistent in the way you adjust it. Hope my kids can figure it out better than me. May 22, 2014
Great! This is the best gadget. I have arthritic hands and this is just the thing to help open those tight jars. May 19, 2014
Please release me ... Opens everything from pears to pickles. It works spot on with the leverage. Easy to find in the gadget draw. April 26, 2014
