Long Square Neck Plaid Flannel Nightgown
I bought one in green a few years ago. Actually had to hem it 3". I doesn't shrink when washed & dried!! Comfortable, quality fabric, and sturdy! Nice and warm when chill weather arrives. And cat-friendly when they curl up and "knead" on your lap. I am ordering a red one today, although the green is still in great shape.

Cheap material and to short.
I'm sorry but I am disappointed in the way the gown was made. I do not like the square neck. It comes down to far in the back and the material is cheap. It is thin. It should be a little better and heavier material for a flannel winter nightgown. I wish I had sent them back but I have already washed and worn the 2 I bought. Now I'll have to see if I can get someone to add a little material to the neck area so it is not so low on my back.
I am 5'10 and I like my gowns to be about 58 to 60 in. long. I like the length to go down to my ankles. They shortened after washing and drying them. Very disappointed in the quality and make of them.

First, if you want roomy, this is it. I found it to run large and had to return both colors for exchange. Even the lesser size I ordered is still roomy, but was only able to exchange the navy. The red is no longer available. I wish I'd kept the red rather than having returned it...I would have done everything possible to shrink it. Please don't get me wrong...I like "roomy".
The reason for the 4 stars is they lack pockets.
Otherwise, they are truly comfortable and I don't feel frumpy wearing them.

Finally a gown that's long enough!!!
I should start my review off by saying that I primarily buy flannel nightwear for sitting around in BEFORE bedtime on those chilly winter nights, rather than looking for something warm to sleep in. I supposed that makes it "loungewear" for me. When I tried this nightgown on, I was thrilled - FINALLY - a decent length nightgown!!! I'm 5'9" tall and this one actually hit my ankles, which was a treat. Unfortunately, it shrank in the dryer so now it's too short again. :-# If you want to keep the length, keep it away from your dryer. The fabric is nice and heavy - and the color is beautiful - it's held up to the wash wonderfully. I agree that it would be nice to have a way to roll the sleeves up and keep them up - either with just a small amount of elastic, or a button - I'll probably just sew in a smidge or elastic. The only real drawback I see to this design is one that others have mentioned - the square neckline. While incredibly attractive, and great in the front, the neck as designed does leave the back of my neck quite chilly while I'm just hanging out in my nightgown. This is the one nightgown I own that I feel the need to throw a shawl over my shoulders to combat this. The design would benefit from a small change that brings the back of the neckline up, while keeping the square design in the front. However, even with those small drawbacks (which for me added up to taking off a star#, I still love this gown and when it goes on sale, I'll snag another one - and I'd absolutely recommend buying them to anyone else.

My son purchased this for me because I wanted a gown without lace around the collar. It was cut very large and the fullness of the pleats made it very roomy. I liked the square neck collar in the front but because it was cut like that in the back, it came down low in the back. In a cool room, my back was always cold. It was a nice weight material and I could tuck my knees under it while watching tv. Wish it was cut normal, close to the neck in the back. Decided to return it.

The quality of the fabric is superb, and I absolutely love the length of the gown (longer than most gowns). The long square neck line also adds that extra bit of classic elegance. As for the fit, I am 5' 5'' in height and weigh 120 lb and ordered the size of small. I prefer loose-fit clothes, especially for sleepwear, and this gown fits quite comfortably. Overall, a great buy!

The material was nice and soft . The size was true.
However the neck was much more open than I pictured. (falls off the shoulder in spite of my wide shoulders).
I will need to take a few tucks at the neck and then it will be my favorite flannel gown.

BEST FLANNEL GOWN EVER
I finally bought this gown in Stewart plaid because I wanted to be matchy-matchy with my new flannel robe (also another VCS fave). I already own it in black watch and have put it through near daily New England winter wear for 6, yes, SIX years. Nothing I have, except the matching robe, has held out like this gown: no shrinkage, no worn spots, no fraying, rips, tears, or holes, just pure soft flannel perfection. Other gowns come and go, but this one lasts longer than some marriages.
