A lovely Christmas dress This dress was on my Christmas list, and my sweetie gave it to me. I'm wearing it right now, and it's lovely. The fit is good, the waistline hits my natural waist, the color is a dark burgundy (a little darker than it appears in the photo). There's just one picky little detail that kept me from giving it 5 stars: The nap on the velvet seems "upside down" to me. As with most napped fabrics, there is a "smooth" direction and a "rough" direction. If I were making this jumper myself, I would have oriented the nap so that "smooth" was in the down direction, i.e., if you brush your hand down the dress from top to hem it would feel smooth. With this jumper, "smooth" is the opposite of that. At first I thought just the front skirt piece was mis-cut, but I checked all the rest of it and the nap on all the other parts is oriented the same. It might be that someone who had never done any dressmaking themselves wouldn't have noticed, but it seems like a minor error to me, and that's why I deducted a star. Still a very pretty dress, though. December 25, 2014
