I wear this cap every night. I've been using this cap for nearly three months and overall I have been pleased. I decided to wear a sleeping cap to prevent my greasy hair from dirtying my pillow. I browsed the internet for a legitimate, non-costume cap and settled on this. I don't put my head on my pillow without it. Nonetheless, there are a couple of issues I have with the cap. The pompon fell off after the second wash. I thought washing the cap inside out might prevent that, but it didn't. I pulled the cap out of the drier and found the pompon in shambles inside the cap. I still wear the cap, but the cap now tends to stick up and out without the pompon to weigh it down. The original pompon was like a koosh ball—a bundle of strands of yarn, tied tight at the midpoint with thread. A single strand of yarn looped through that thread, and the ends of the strand were sewn into the seam of the cap. One of the ends of that strand of yarn got pulled out and that's how the pompon fell off. I intend to find a replacement pompon that's more durable. Second, one half of the cap has a narrow elastic headband, while the other half has just a regular hem. I wasn't expecting any elastic in the cap, but I'm OK with that now. I just don't know which half is the front of the cap and which is the back (the tag is between the two halves). I've put it on one way, woke up with it on the other way, had the reverse happen on other nights—I just don't know. I used to put it on with the elastic in the back, but while I sleep it seems to always settle on turning to elastic in the front, so I've been putting it on elastic in the front. I'd be interested to learn how this cap is properly worn. Only four stars because of the fragile pompon and the disorienting elastic headband. Despite these small issues, I am still happy with the cap and definitely recommend it. I bought the blue and green plaid one. January 2, 2014
Oldfashioned can be best When we were first married, my husband complained that his head got cold at night. I remembered the nightcaps for sale in the Vermont Country Store catalog, and ordered him one. The only thing that wasn't perfect was the pom-pom, our cats thought it was a new toy. Fast action with a pair of scissors made the cap just right, and gave the cats an authorized new toy. April 29, 2013
Hubby's cold head I bought this night cap for my husbands birthday. We live in WV and you wouldn't think it gets very cold here but, it does.We heat our house with wood, and if it is between about 40-60 degrees outside it isn't windows open weather, but it isn't really warm in the house. My husband is hair folically challenged and he had resorted to sleeping in a winter cap or his ball cap. I thought the night cap would be a definite improvement for him. Long story short, he loves it, he sleeps in it all the time and said it is very comfy. Thank you, Sue in WV April 5, 2013
Grandson's sleep hat My grandson loves his new sleep cap. The only problem was the pompom came off the first time he wore it. It was held on by just one strand of yarn. I have since repaired it and he is using it again. Need to find a better way to secure the pompom and everthing else about the cap is great. Thank you. January 7, 2013
Staying warm is NOT over-rated We live in the upper midwest in an old house...no hot-air register in the bedroom, just a vent from the kitchen below, which got covered over in the last owner's remodel and a baseboard heater that I am too cheap, er, frugal to use much. (In my family, the response was "put on a sweater," not "turn the heat up." I can't help it :D) And the down comforters are amazingly warm. However, while I have hair, my partner does not ... Now, those of you with actual late 20th c. central heating might not relate, but for our situation, the sleeping cap has been perfect, increasing the comfort of dear partner immensely! Years of very warm heads My partner puts on his flannel sleeping cap as soon as he arrives to our eco-friendly and temperature appropriate home. I have been purchasing these well made and very stylish caps for him for years and hope they will always be available! December 23, 2012
"Me in my cap" This cap is everything I hoped it would be. Its not too heavy, or hot; it just breaks the chill in my room. Its stretch is not too strong as to be uncomfortable overnight and its cut helps it fit my head without riding up and off. The tassel adds a little style to an already attractive product.
