Our grandmother had a cotton bedspread almost exactly like this hobnail bedspread, made by Maine Heritage Weavers. Whenever our games threatened to spill into her room, she would shoo us outdoors before we could do any damage. She didn't know how tough this 100% cotton bedspread is. The graceful flower and swag pattern is created by pulling loops of yarn through the cotton back. Heavyweight and elegantly finished with 6" knotting and fringe all around. Machine wash and dry. USA.

i should have researched what hobnail is.... it is a beautiful spread and looks lovely in my room. what i don't like about it is the pattern is the same on the inside as well and is uncomfortable on my feet. the "bumps" are irritating. i use only a sheet under it in the warmer months so i can feel them. the reason i would recommend is the beauty of it and the fact that you would need a blanket underneath. nice weight, made in USA, skimpy width nice weight, heavy enough to drape well and no show-thru layers beneath, yet not too heavy to handle easily and won't be in the dryer for hours on end.... length is good but width I would have liked about 4 to 6 inches wider, OK if you have a low profile mattress, on the short side if you have thicker denser mattress. Wish they made a version with split corners as it would be wonderful on an old fashioned 4-poster bed. May 22, 2013

My 91 year old mom's bedspread... Mom, who is 91, had a very, old, threadbare hobnail bedspread. She asked me to throw it out and wondered if I could find anything similar... My first thought was a recent Vermont Country Store Catalog and I looked and found one very similar.. She received it and just loves and raves about it.. Perfect weight and lovely! Hibnail Cotton Bedspread I have had an off white chenille type bedspread for the last 16 years. I loved the classic old antique look. Over the years, many washings and just old age, it started to yellow a bit and it started to tear at the seems. I had looked at several websites but the styles and sizes were never just right. Finding the right size for oversized king was a challenge. Over the years before I came across your website I had found several versions of the chenille bedspread. When I looked at this one, it was closest to the one I had. I was plesantly surprised when I got it and found out not only was it close enough to the original, it was better. AND it was the exact size I needed it to be. To better summarize, it was perfect. Very Happy! March 13, 2013
I love this bedspread! It is beautiful. It brings back so many wonderful memories of my grandmother and me. Unfortunately, it is too narrow for my bed. I also ordered the 4" mattress pad which will make my mattress a total of 16" deep. The fringe on the bedspread will not reach the box springs and I wanted it to reach the floor. It would be much better if it were about 136" wide. (That is a guess, I did not measure it on the bed.) February 20, 2013
