Great towels
I have been using towels similar to these that were handed down to me from my aunt. Her's have been embroidered with the traditional red thread in simple designs. I saw these in the catalog and decided to get some. I have embroidered them and given them to my daughters and friends. They are great to have and really are the best to dry dishes and glassware

Flour Sack Towels
Mom always had these towels in her kitchen. So grew up using these towels for drying dishes. I had given up on trying to find them here in the City. They are really the best for drying glasses, no lint left behind as terry cloth does. Mom, Grandmother, and Great Grand Mother used to stamp and embroider a design on one end of the towel, which is what I plan to do sometime soon. The fact that they are 100% cotton was one of the selling points for me. Thanks for bringing back memories of living on a farm!

Better'n Diapers
My oldest son wore washable baby diapers (disclosure: the second child didn't). After Sean stopped using them, the diapers recycled into some of the best all-purpose cleaning cloths I've ever known. I was bereft when they wore away to tatters. Then I discovered Vermont Country Store's floursack towels. It was love at first feel. I shared them with my mom and sisters and nieces. They do wear out eventually: I'm into the third dozen at my house. But you don't have to give birth to get more.

The Perfect Gift
My wife had been looking for floursack towels for a long time and was very happy to find them under the Christmas tree. It was the one gift she had no idea that she was receiving. The towels are high quality and perfect for the kitchen.

Floursack towels wrap gifts nicely
In the 30's and 40's, my grandmother and many other women from rural America made shirts and little girls' dresses from flour sacks printed with colored patterns for that purpose. My mother used white ones for dishes, dust cloths, and later, rags. So do I. They still dry quickly and never leave lint.
Now I use them are wedding shower and other gifts, introducing young people to the economy and green value of cotton cloth. Cuts down on expensive paper towels, too. I line kitchen gift baskets with them, and, not wasting paper for gift wrapping, I use Vermont Country Store towels to wrap small gifts, tied with kitchen twine.
May everyone else inherit stacks of floursack towels as I did, and both give and receive them as gifts from the Vermont Country Store, as I do.

Best towels for dishes and windows
I have ordered these towels for several years. When we visited VCS this summer, I purchased a package of the towels. When I returned home, I opened the (slightly torn) wrapper, and noticed one towel was missing. I sent an e-mail to customer service, just to suggest that clerks might want to check contents of any packages that might have slightly town wrappers. About five days later I received a check to reimburse me for the missing towel. Now, THAT is customer service!
