Rated 5 out of 5 by No more batteries! My first watch was a wind up watch, and so were several subsequent watches. Loved my Timex, kept better time than some expensive ones I had. When good quality battery watches became ubiquitous I switched. The cheapie Swatches were often better than the jewelry store ones. Wow, no more forgetting to wind that thing. How convenient. Until the battery dies. Now who keeps spare watch batteries laying around? Run to the store, oops they don't carry them, run to another, oops they are out of stock. Or for the expensive ones you have to bring to a jeweler. Often you were without a watch for days. Which resulted in the need to own more than one. Recently I picked up my watch, which I had not worn in a while, and the battery was dead. Picked up watch two, same thing. Watch three, ditto. You can imagine my thoughts. Ran to the drugstore and they had batteries. Great. Got home and all three watches had died from lack of use. If you don't keep them running the battery operated watches seem to freeze up and stop running permanently. Well time to look around for a new watch and my first thought was Vermont Country Store for its unique good quality items. The choice was this wind up watch or another battery one which was much less expensive. No decision. Yes I have to remember to wind it every morning, but that is becoming second nature again. Keeps great time and has not lost or gained a minute. And guess what, no more batteries. And figure it out, this will be less expensive when you add in the cost of batteries to the cheaper battery watch alternative. June 9, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by LOVE THIS WATCH For quite some time my husband has been searching for a watch which does NOT require a battery and I have not been able to find one anywhere. We are delighted I found this one from your company. My husband loves it and he is now the envy of his friends who also want a watch without a battery. We love the Vermont country store-- thank you, Iris February 16, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great to see real old school watches are still around! I had to think of a cool and unique gift for a young man turning eighteen and I thought, "why not an old school wind up watch?!" He isn't the most conventional young guy around so it might just be right up his alley. It turned out to be a great hit with him and I took it as quite a compliment when he called it cool. I was happy I could send it out directly to him and with no info on its costs on the packing sheet and a personalized note from me enclosed with it. Thanks Ortons you scored high points with me on this one. June 19, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Plain and simple I wanted a watch that had no batteries and no calendar to fiddle with and that I could read without my reading glasses. This watch fit the bill on all accounts. January 3, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Perfect Watch for Dad My dad has wanted a wind-up watch for years. This watch is perfect. The face is large and clear/clean enough for him to read. He hasn't worn a watch in years so it's nice to see him wearing this everyday. His only adjustment was making an additional hole to tighten the band. February 1, 2014

Rated 5 out of 5 by The Wind-Up Wonder My first watch was a wind-up one. I always liked the idea of a wind-up watch. You know, not being tied down to a battery which may expire unexpectedly. When I was a boy and had my first watch, it was my responsibility to make sure it be wound up every day. And knowing that my little exertion of winding up the watch helped keep the watch running involved me in the process. I still like that idea. This particular wind-up watch that I bought from the Vermont Country Store has brought that sense of wonder back. The first time I wound it up, I wanted to see exactly how long it would take before it stopped. Well, here's the answer: On the first full wind-up, the watch ran for 39 hours and 29 minutes. I was really impressed. And it really keeps excellent time. My family and co-workers initially didn't understand why I enjoy it so much. But now they're curious about it. I'm very happy with my new wind-up watch. November 6, 2012
