"My mother, age 101 on July 5, 2009, lives in an assisted-living home in South Carolina where the air-conditioned temperature in the summer is kept between 68 and 70 F, 24 hours a day. She weighs about 85 pounds and is easily chilled. This long underwear is literally a pain reliever for her, because when she doesn't wear it, she complains of being so cold that her joints hurt. The owner of the assisted-living house insists that the state regulatory agency requires that the house be kept at this temperature, to prevent bacterial growth, disease transmission, etc. My mother also wears the over-the-knee merino wool socks from Vermont Country Store 12 months a year and loves them! I wear this long underwear (cotton) 12 months a year in lieu of pajamas, and I wear the merino wool knee socks (Wigwam brand) (not over-the-knee from Vermont Country Store) in the winter, day and night! This brand is so much better than the waffle-weave type found at Wal-Mart and similar stores, because the waffle-weave is too hot for indoor daytime wear, no matter what the season.
