Christmas of the old days When I was young in the late 1940s and early 1950s I had a Great Aunt and Uncle that had no Children of their own but always wanted a spectacular Christmas for their Grand Nephews. One of the traditions of the Season was to go to Woolworths and get a candle to add to the collections on their mantle. Today, although they have long passed, we still have that candle collection we put on our mantle every year and our Grand Children although they're not quite 5 years old still enjoy the candles ( especially the Chior Boy with black eye) The salt and pepper shakers are a close replecas of the candles and starting this year will be a tradition on our Christmas table.
