Rated 4 out of 5Â by Mike07066 Tricky to light, but once you have the "secret" works everytime
As mentioned in numerous reviews, these can be tricky to light. Building on Vicci's comment, the trick is to get the top of the cylinder (whichever side you're trying to light) to glow red around the entire rim. Best way, rotate the incense while it's in the flame, making sure the incense catches a flame as well. Remove it from the match, or whatever is being used to light it, when the flame extinguishes, blow on the red coal in he direction where the coal may not have lit. Once you have a red coal around the rim , full circle, place it in a holder. Takes a little practice, but I've never had one go out before a full burn this way

I start burning these in the fall, right through to spring. It smells so *cozy*. :)
I found that the best way to light the sticks is holding the end (carefully!) over the edge of the gas flame on my stove. It takes 20 seconds or so (the stick flame will get bigger, but continue to keep it over the gas flame). Take it away from the gas flame and allow to burn for a few seconds on its own, then blow it out and then gently blow on it a little more. The tip will glow. At that point, put it into the holder or the cabin and it should produce a lot of smoke. Mine always burn down completely using this method.
The unlit end of the stick doesn't really fit well into the hole in the cabin, but it can be wedged into it by a quick push-and-twist motion. Just make sure that it is level.

They are a little harder to light than other incenses. I need to keep the flame on it for 30 seconds or less so they stay lit. but the fragrance is wonderful! I have several of the mini brass candlestick shaped holders as well. my granddaughter love them. everyone loves the fragrance.

Loved the scent. It brought back many memories from childhood at Christmas time.

the balsam fir incense light but don't stay on, so there is no smoke or incense. My wife loves the smell but when they don't stay on there is no smell. We buy these every Christmas and sometimes during the year.

Rated 1 out of 5Â by Abbers These do not burn
I have ordered balsam fir refills in the past for my Christmas "log cabin" and have had no trouble. However, those were cone-shaped and the tips lit easily and burned for about 15 minutes. The most recent order that was sent are "mini-logs." They do not fit into the log cabin's hole for the incense and the box contain it's own incense holder which must be set inside the log cabin. The incense lights initially, but burns out after a minute with only a fraction of the incense burned. Relighting results in the same thing. Very disappointing because I wanted my granddaughter to see the log cabin chimney "smoke."

They dont stay up which is a problem but only if you can light them to stay lit ! Would be better if they were cone shaped , they would be more balanced. But still a problem with staying lit.

Rated 5 out of 5Â by Nana M Smelling Christmas all year long!
This is NOT just for the holidays! If you love the smell of the woods you will want to buy this balsam fir incense. I order it all year long. Have bought half a dozen of the cute little cabins to burn it in for family and friends. Everyone who comes in my house and sees the smoke coming out of the chimney wants to steal mine! I tell them "go to the Vermont Country Store and buy extra boxes of the incense" it is addicting! Service is great, products are quality and you can always find the unusual nostalgic gift.
