Old time healthy goodness! Ralston wheat hot cereal does taste like wholesome goodness! It is tasty, and it does seem like it is a healthy breakfast. March 24, 2015
Bringing back the goodness Growing up as a child in Massachusetts I developed a love for Ralston hot cereal. It got me through many a cold winter morning. I continued to enjoy it into adulthood until several years ago when it disappeared from store shelves. Thinking it was out of production, I resigned myself to the fact that I would no longer be able to enjoy my favorite hot cereal. Then I learned of The Vermont Country Store from a neighbor of my 91 year old mother, and was pleasantly surprised to find that they still had Ralston cereal available. I now live in Maryland, but the winter's, especially this winter, can still be cold and miserable. Needless to say I am now rejoined with my favorite hot cereal and enjoying it on cold winter mornings thanks to The Vermont Country Store. March 16, 2015
Childhood Favorite I remember my mom fixing this wonderful hot cereal when I was a youngster. It is still fabulous and has really tasted good with the cold winter we had this year. March 12, 2015
Hard to find; great to enjoy Growing up in New England I enjoyed hot Ralston cereal every cold winter day. I am not able to buy it on the West Coast so rely on the Vermont Country Store to keep me supplied summer and winter. February 17, 2015
Ralston is the BEST I have been eating Ralston since I was a child. It was readily available at local grocery stores until about 12 (or so) years ago. Then it disappeared from the grocery store shelves. I was thrilled to find it at the Vermont Country Store and will always purchase it there. I LOVE Ralston. I then send a box/bag to my brother who loves it too. I'm very happy to be able to purchase it once again. It is delicious and good for you. I cook it and after pouring it into a bowl, sprinkle a little brown sugar over the top, and of course milk. -- I like the new re-sealable bag that it now comes it. February 16, 2015
my favorite child hood hot cereal I just loved this hot cereal growing up. You can't buy it in the stores I've looked. And so I googled it online and found you. Thank you for bringing back my memories of this great cereal. January 29, 2015
"Could'nt be without it" As a child I enjoyed Ralston along with the goodies that came with the box. As I grew I kept on eating it until a few years ago I could'nt find it in any of the stores any more. So i traced it down and am now back on it along with my wife. I'm 84 now, and still love it.. What Our Customers Are Saying about Our Ralston Wheat Hot Cereal (Set of 3 Bags) …

"I am a Senior of 64 years old and was raised on Ralston hot cereal. While growing up in Colorado, nothing was better to fight the snow and cold on the way to school than a breakfast like this. It may sound trite but it warmed the tummy so. I had such fond memories of loving this cereal that I raised my daughter, who is now 44, on it. It amazed me when she mentioned, "Mom, have you ever found any Ralston in the stores?" I had brought her a box 10 years ago from our Navy Commissary but have never seen it again. Until this sight... Believe it or not...this order, 3 boxes of Ralston Wheat Hot Cereal, is going to be one of my daughter's Christmas gifts - ha ha - and I promise this will delight her as much as anything she will receive. Thank you, Vermont Country Store, for having this item. I will return to order more. Sincerely, Diana Schlepp of Texas" - Mrs. Diana Schlepp, Princeton, TX

"I grew up during the 60s eating & loving the taste of this unique product. I enjoy its hot, hearty whole wheat taste which is not at all like oatmeal or other more mushy hot cereals on the market. I was estatic when I found the VCS and a distributor which still sells this product. I'm 54 and I raised my kids on this too & they (23, 21, & 17) also still love it. Thanks for making it available. Vince." - Vince Saunders, Chicago, IL

"I was born in Glenns Falls, New York and my first five years were spent in Neptune New Jersey. At age 6, my family moved to Midfield, Alabama - a western suburb of Birmingham (talk about a culture shock - from New Jersey to Alabama - Wow!). In the late 1950's and early 60's, my mom would always serve us Raltson cereal for breakfast. Until I got hooked on Coco Puffs and Captain Crunch, it was good old fashioned Ralston with lots of sugar that I would dump in it and mix it up. I got away from Ralston for many years until one day at one of the local grocery stores I discovered it on the shelf next to the Cream of Wheat (also one of my favorites) and the Quaker oatmeal. I tried it again for the first time (as Corn Flakes used to advertise) and got hooked. This time instead of sugar, I used the Great Value clover honey sold at WalMart. Honey is supposed to be a lot healthier than sugar you know. Anyway, it was fabulous and I got hooked. Then, next thing ya know, every store stopped carrying Ralston and I couldn't find it anywhere. So on a whim one night, I just put the word Ralston in a Google search and up popped the Vermont Country Store along with a bunch of sites for dog food which Purina is also famous for making. The key to making this cereal just right is to make sure to follow the directions on the box, however, don't cover and wait for the desired consistancy. Here is where you have to work a bit and be patient. When the water comes to a boil, slowly pour in the Ralston while continuously stirring. Don't get lazy at this point. Keep stirring until the water continues to evaporate in the steam. Stir until the cereal reaches the consistancy of a lava flow and then pull off the stove and pour into a rather deep dished bowl. Leave plenty of room in the bowl for the honey and milk. Add a pile of that honey to get it to your desired taste and then add the milk to cool the cereal down. Mix it all up and enjoy a super tasting healthy breakfast full of fiber. If I'm really feeling healthy that day, I add about 5 of those little powdered doughnuts to the breakfast for some extra calories. If I'm not feeling so healty, I'll slice up a naval orange (they come without the seeds ya know) and have that with some decaf coffee. Make sure to brush your teeth afterward to insure your teeth don't get stained from the coffee and the litte bits of Ralston aren't stuck between your teeth like grits. Well enjoy and remember that the only place you can find this great hot cereal from the good old days is the Vermont Country Store. Thanks so much and I hope my on line connection to my favorite hot cereal never goes away... Sincerely, Colin O'Hara" - Colin O'Hara, Mary Esther, FL

"I've looked and looked for this cereal for years! I do not like cream of wheat or farina and love a change of pace from oatmeal! I'm thrilled to have found this!" - Jennifer, Buffalo, NY

"We have looked in Michigan and Florida and cannot find your product. How can we start our day without Ralston??? It tastes good and reminds us of when we were children." - Katherine Dempster, Lakeland, FL

"This is one of the Hot Cereals from my childhood that does not seem to be on the local shelves at the stores that I have shopped at, like it used to be years ago. This is the one Hot Cereal that I recall from my childhood that I liked better than Oatmeal. I do, however, have the occasional bowl of Oatmeal, but I would much rather have Ralston Wheat Hot Cereal instead of. Not to mention the fact that it is a good fiber Hot Cereal that is good to eat during the winter months as well as occasionally in the summer months. I had Open Heart Surgery almost two years ago, and I try to stick to a more natural breakfast than those quick fix ones that you pop in the toaster or microwave." - Kathy Kuder, Shinglehouse, PA

"My mother used to make Ralston cereal for me when I was little. Several years ago it just stopped appearing on any supermarket shelves, and I started looking for substitutes at health food stores. I could never find a cereal that was as good as Ralston! When I saw Vermont Country Store selling it, I bought it immediately. It is my weekend breakfast treat and real comfort food. Thank you, Vermont Country Store!" - Lynn Romeo, East Rockaway, NY

"I love this hot cereal. Not only did I enjoy it as a child but loved it as an adult. I couldn't believe the stores stopped selling it. I am so glad you do! Thank you." - Janet Gilligan, Endicott, NY

"When I was a child growing up in the early '60s, my mom served Ralston for breakfast in the winter. It was my favorite. Until last year when I found it on your website, I was unable to find it anywhere for years. Thanks so much for carrying this wonderful hot cereal." - Annie Waldron, Byron, NY

"Like all the other folks, I had Ralston for breakfast as far back as I could remember. I fed it to my three daughters. Then some time later I tried to find it and had no luck. About 15 years ago, I discovered it was available from Vermont Country Store. I have been buying it from you ever since then and just put in another order. Please keep it available for at least the next 10 years so I can continue to enjoy it!" - Elizabeth Crouse, Williamsburg, VA

"Growing up on the farm, our mother made muffins from the Ralston cereal -- called Ruffins! Thank you for providing the Ralston Wheat Hot Cereal, because now the grandchildren have the opportunity to share in the same memories by having Ruffins for breakfast or snacks." - Susan, Ashburn, VA

"Ralston has been one of this 40-something gal's lifelong, nutritious, figure-friendly, favorite, digestive musts. Ralston's easy as hot tea preparation, stirs up plain or you can add any sweetener, fresh fruit, jam, jelly, or syrup you are in the mood for morning, noon, or night." - Stephanie Meck, Mechanicsburg, PA

"I grew up on Ralston in the '50s and am so glad it can still be found on the Internet, if not on the store shelves (and I've certainly looked!). There isn't another cereal like it, and nothing beats it on a cold winter morning." - Vicki Robertson, Salida, CO

"I was born in Springfield, Massachusetts, 67 years ago and raised on hot Ralston. I moved to Colorado and then to Oklahoma where I could not find Ralston until I wrote the company and found I could order it there. But in a few years they stopped that. Then my little sister got a VCS catalog and sent it to me, and I have been faithfully eating Ralston ever since. I absolutely love it and eat it all winter. Bill Tinning, Gore, Oklahoma" - Bear Tinning, Gore, OK

"Not only is it flavorful and delicious, but it also brings back a flood of wonderful memories. I was born and raised on the East Coast, New York and Philly. Can't wait to order the most delicious and nutritious cereal. What a way to start off any day!" - Vickie Fox, Rosamond, CA

"I cannot find Ralston Wheat Hot cereal in any of the stores anymore. In the 60's there was a pineapple Ralston muffin recipe on the box that everyone loved. I still crave those muffins and I'm thrilled I can buy Ralston at The Vermont Country Store and share those muffins with friends and family again." - Shirley Cowden, Fairfield, OH
