I wanted to get the cookbook to make the Lumberjack Granola recipe and to try the Soup recipes. I love the Lumberjack Granola - it has so many of my favorites and everyone here on the farm is glad I made it. I have not made any of the Soups yet - but the Carrot Butternut Squash recipe is going to be one of the first I make - and to try the Cheese Straw recipe. I will see how it compares to my Grannie's. Rated 5 out of 5 by Family favorite recipes I first saw this cookbook when my daughter brought it home from the local library. After we both thoroughly went through the recipes we knew we wanted to add it to our collection. I look forward to using the book for many years to come and trying out recipes from the Pantry section. I've never gotten into canning/jams/jellies etc. and I feel this would be a good place to start. March 9, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by A Must Have In Your Collection If you love cookbooks as much as I do, this is one you must have in your collection and not just for the recipes, which are wonderful, but for the "taste of Americana" woven into the production of this book. Once I saw what a treasure this cookbook was, I decided that, rather than keep it for myself, I would give it to a friend. For each birthday and Christmas, one gift we exchange is always a cookbook. After many years of this tradition, it becomes difficult to find a cookbook I know she wouldn't have and The Vermont Country Store Cookbook is so unique, it will surely be a special addition to her collection. The recipes are excellent, particularly the soups, but the woman I bought it for especially loved the stories and photographs that accompanied it. She now wants to book a trip to Vermont. :) Recommended, both as a cookbook, and as quality reading for that nostalgic feel. February 3, 2016
