Ice Breaker Mats
Ice Breaks Easily
Just stomp your foot and ice breaks and can be kicked or swept away. The only difficulty we are having is keeping mats in place. We used silicone as directed, but mats still slip when they get wet.

Snow & ice on Long Island
We usually don't have the kind of winter weather where things stay frozen for long. The last two years have been exceptional for cold, snow and ice. My one step up to my front porch is a large slab of black slate, which has been constantly icy. I put the door mat on it (perfect fit) and bought one stair tread for the edge of the porch. The mat has been great; even going out at night with the dogs pulling me I have felt much safer--no fear of slipping. (I haven't been able to use the tread yet, because it needs to be fastened down, and it has been too cold/wet for that to be done.) I highly recommend this product! Wish we'd had this back when I was growing up in Northern Michigan!

We ordered these mats about 18 years ago as we live where there is lots of snow and ice. They have now given us the best wear possible, so have purchased them again. We leave them up all year long and they have weathered many winters. Without these mats, we would no be able to use the stairs with the safety we experience every time we, or friends, use them.
I would recommend these to anyone for safety.

These Don't Work!
I purchased six of these mats for our front porch and four steps on our front walk. Nowhere in the catalog did it say that they had to be glued or nailed down. We just spent a substantial of money redoing our front porch (brick and slate) and my husband was not about to glue anything to it. Nails of course are out of the question. The first snowstorm we had I put the mats on the steps and by morning they were in the front yard.

ice breaker mats
The first snow storm the mats slid of the steps. We did not know you had to buy sealer. We put it on. We were wondering if there was a paticular tempeture or weather conditions for putting them on.

Great product but bad advertising
The product itself is terrific - appears to be of very good quality and anticipate it to last for years. Problem is, I totally misunderstood (yes it it my fault) and thought that when I placed the order I would be getting three mats - one for each of my steps. Come to find out I would only get one mat. I could absolutely SWEAR that the ad said there would be three. I have no choice but to cut the one and only mat I have to cover two steps and leave the top step as is. I understand I would be setting myself up for ruining the mat but feel I have no choice. I could also just return the mat but don't want to do that. Lesson to me: READ DETAILS!!!!!

Ice Breaker Mats
These mats really do work, BUT, I think I might have to use them a little differently than planned. We get so much ice, and I use spikes on my boots for the sidewalk, driveway, getting the mail, snowplowing etc., I'm afraid of poking holes in the matts and ruining them. I hadn't thought about that when I purchased them! I'll use them on the back porch where I don't use the spikes. I'll line up door matt and 3 step mats end to end along the woodpile!
