Back in the day, oilcloth used to be made by coating heavier weight cotton with linseed oil, which slowly cracked and peeled with age. This method became obsolete with the advent of noncracking plastics. Sadly, what replaced oilcloth was flimsy plastic cloth. Borrowing a page from yesteryear, our heavy-duty oilcloth is still made with real fabric, so it has the weight and drape of real cloth, yet is guaranteed to last. The oilcloth’s laminated vinyl finish wipes clean and will never crack or peel. Cotton/PVC or polyester/PVC. Imported.

I purchased this for a table on a covered porch. The material is sturdy and lovely. The design is beautiful. I am excited for warmer days and some outside dining!

We have several of the heavy duty Oilcloth tablecovers and have been very happy with the quality, and durability until recently. The last 2 we purchased are returned. It appears they are not manufactured by the same vendor previously used. Will not save money but will loose customers. I have been loyal fo years but I am ready to cut the ties

Rated 5 out of 5Â by DebInMT Best tablecloth in 30 years
We use our table a lot and went through a lot of vinyl tablecloths over the years. Ours is a rectangle table with pointy corners and that is the first place they would fail. We tried cloth but had to wash to often and we have lights clamped to the table so this was inconvenient. Have had this oilcloth on the table about 2 months now and no holes on the corners. Only complaint is the edges roll up. Very easy to wipe down and keep clean. Will be purchasing more.

Rated 2 out of 5Â by From WI Disappointed
I ordered two of the holly pattern for the holidays/winter and while the patter is lovely and the quality very good, no matter what I did I could not stop the edges from curling up. I tried using an iron, as suggested and even put it in a low heat dryer with a damp towel for a few minutes. Very disappointed.

Rated 3 out of 5Â by singa1ong Edges curl upward; Not Genuine Oilcloth
Even though this is just laminated cloth, and not genuine oilcloth, as advertised, it is still better than a cloth table cloth with a thick plastic overlay. My biggest disappointment and complaint was that the edges curl upward, even after it has been thoroughly ironed on the fabric back.
I purchased three 54" rounds, the fall leaf, the fruit and the Christmas holly berry table cloth. The Christmas one arrived with the edges curled and folded in that position, so it's pretty hopeless, even though it's been ironed. The fabric also had smears, underneath the lamination, apparently a flaw which occurred when printing the pattern on the fabric. When I went to order another one so that I could replace it, the Holly Berry was sold out, much to my dismay. Needless to say, I will be returning it, even though I absolutely love the pattern.
I love all the patterns that I ordered. Colors are vibrant and very true to the picture. All in all, it's a nice product, but I do hope that Vermont Country Store can find a different manufacturer who can provide a tablecloth that won't curl upward on the edges.

A few years back I bought the Kitchen pattern oil cloth. I noticed that I don't see that pattern listed anymore. The one I bought is still in excellent shape, but when the time comes for a replacement I would like to have the same pattern on hand. I love that pattern. Please advise if you are planning in the future to order that pattern again. Thanks and Merry Christmas

Rated 5 out of 5Â by smileyredhead Sturdy, pretty, toddler-friendly tablecloth
This tablecloth is a pretty, yet practical, way to dress up your dinner table. I used these year round (changing prints with the seasons). Cleaning up my toddler's daily food messes was a breeze, and the sturdy material ensured that pieces of tablecloth wouldn't be flecking off into our food. They do have a bit of a smell so let them air out but the smell fades. Love love these tablecloths.

A nice replacement for the old fashion oil cloth that was readily available in the 40's and 50's. This is vinyl ond a fabric backing and is very nice - even some of the patterns are like old fashion oil cloth patterns. Th only drawback I ind is that the edges on the short sides tend to roll up. Directions tell how to use an iron on the reverse side to flatten the cloth out. But - I no longer have an iron - I'll have to borrow one, but it will still be worth the extra effort.

What Our Customers Are Saying about Our Heavy Duty Oilcloth Tablecloths …
"After going through many less expensive plastic tablecloths, I finally bit the bullet and purchased two of these oilcloth tablecloths. I only wish I had done so sooner. They not only look good, but they have a nice, heavy weight to them. The table I use this on gets its fair share of use, and this tablecloth has held up to the job and still looks nice despite repeated washing, laptops being slid across the table, and everything else in between."-Sandra, Loganville, GA
"I had heard of oilcloth, but had no idea what it was until my mom bought me a Christmas print oilcloth tablecloth from The Vermont Country Store. Oh. My. Gosh! This tablecloth beats the heck out of the lousy vinyl junk I used to buy! As a mom of 5, I am not only sold on the quality of oilcloth, but also how easy it is to care for. Now that Christmas is over, I will be buying an everyday one...an Easter one...a 4th of July one...and certainly a birthday one! Very, very happy with this product."-Heather, Alameda, CA
"Love, love The Vermont Country Store's oil tablecloth. Have owned one for many years, never wears out. Ordering a new one due to color change in kitchen, and for some reason my cat started chewing on the ends of the tablecloth when wanting to get our attention....."-Kathy, Vienna, VA
"I ordered a bird oil cloth tablecloth about two months ago. I was excited because I wanted it for my picnic table on the deck. I left it outside and within a month it faded. Not, a happy camper." - Barbara Tracy, Culpeper, VA
"So far I've accummulated four of these and want more. They clean up with just a damp songe or cloth. They're hearty - don't tear or rip. Heat doesn't seem to bother them. The colors are lovely, and they don't fade. They're so durable I expect them to outlast me. It sure beats cloth that you have to wash, and the plastic ones that only last a short while. I searched everywhere for oilcloth tablecloths and couldn't find them anywhere else but here. Thank you, Vermont Country Store, for carrying these! " - Vicki, Knoxville, TN
"I am very, very happy with my Fruit tablecloth - it is 9 months old and looks new. On my kitchen table taking abuse daily, it cleans easily, has tolerated an occasional brush with hot pans and is performing as I had hoped. Does not stain either. Getting my mother one for her 90th birthday." - Bonnie , Durham, ME
"I was tired of constantly replacing my cheaply made plastic tablecloths. I remember the heavy oil cloth table cloths of my childhood and wanted to find something that would fit the bill. I had difficulty finding what I wanted until I ran across these tablecloths here online at The Vermont Country Store. They are a very heavy duty. They have a cloth backing with a glossy, heavy duty laminated finish. It just cleans up with a damp cloth. Even though these are a bit on the expensive side, it looks like they will last for years. I got the floral and plan to get more to match the seasons. " - Jannett, Rio Rancho, NM
