After months of searching, we located a much-requested dry iron, which had been missing from the marketplace for over 20 years. Many of our customers prefer a dry iron over today's steam iron because it is better for pressing starched clothes, and the smooth sole plate does not leave impressions on plush towels or clothing. Quilters and crafters like dry irons, too, for fusing appliqués. Dry iron features a cool-touch handle and temperature selection dial with fabric guide. 8 ft. long cord.

  • Dry iron has a smooth sole plate
  • Great for quilting and crafts

Who needs newfangled gadgets? At The Vermont Country Store you'll find tried-and-true goods that still work wonders today, like this dry iron. For perfect pressing, nothing beats a dry iron—and we found it for you!

Great for quilting I remember the shape and design of this iron, as it is the one my mother used in the 1950's and the one on which I learned to iron hankies, dish towels and later graduated to pillowcases. The iron gets hot and stays that way, so it is great for pressing seams when I use it to create quilting blocks. My regular iron does not get hot enough for such a task, so I now have one dry iron in my sewing room and another in the laundry. If I want to dampen the object, I merely spritz with water from a spray bottle. It works wonderfully for my needs. May 16, 2013
Very disappointed Came with a piece of metal loose in box don't know what it is for Temp dial came off. I was able to put it back but it just sits there it will fall off I use it but it does not get as hot as I would like March 24, 2014
Just What I've Been Looking For I have been searching for six months in the Orlando area for an iron with NO steam. Often in sewing, we have to press items that do not require steam and using an iron with steam leaves little steam holes in your item. This is a big problem especially when using iron on stabilizers. This is the fourth time I have found what I was looking for and couldn't find locally. Good store and very good customer assistance. March 18, 2014
A Multi-Purpose Iron I have ordered a number of these over the years for my friends that sew and do crafts. For me it is the perfect iron for delicate fabrics like silk and synthetics. Can be set at a lower temperature and like mentioned in some of the other testimonials it leaves no marks on the fabric. It is a good multi-purpose iron. February 13, 2014
Incredibly fantastic iron! Wish I had found this decades ago!!! I only press using a dry iron and hate it when people add water to the iron. Now that risk is eliminated, so no more stains discoloring my linens or garments. I collect antique and vintage linens and use them, particularly handkerchiefs and napkins. The iron has a great weight to it and is comfortable to use. Getting back to basics without the bells and whistles is SO wonderful! A pleasure to use my new Dry Iron!!! Thank you!!! February 7, 2014
Exactly what we needed This is exactly what we were looking for and we are so glad to have finally found it at the Vermont Country Store. It does the job perfectly. Thank you for carrying this iron! January 24, 2014

Disappointed Looking for a iron without the steam (which I never use anyway) and looking forward to this purchase. Very disappointing....never got hot enough to press jeans and cotton pillowcases. December 4, 2013

What Our Customers Are Saying about Our Dry Iron …

"Dear Mr. Orton, The very first time I saw your dry iron, I ordered it. I am thrilled with it. My new iron is very similar to the one that we got for our wedding in 1955, which served us well for more than 40 years. But it finally stopped working, so I bought one steam iron after another. I hated them all. Finally I have an iron I like—just in time for our 50th anniversary!" - Carol Cover, Northfield, MN

"This is the perfect iron for crafting. Leaves no marks on the fabric. I have given several of these for gifts!" - Andrew, Anderson,

"As a fiber artist, I run many pieces of fabric backed with freezer paper thru my computer's inkjet printer to print templates on the back side of fabrics with Inklingo. This iron is perfect for this use as I never have to be concerned with the fabric not sticking properly to the freezer paper due to the dimples in a regular steam iron or the iron not getting hot enough. I also like the weight of the iron; I don't find myself needing to press down as much as I used to." - Jillian, Hebron, ND

"I just finished ironing a dozen large white cotton napkins. It was wonderful to just sprinkle them, do something else for a bit, and then iron quickly without spitting, spurting, spotting. A breeze! Perfect." - Maxine Freeman, Boise, ID

"I'm troubled with arthritis, especially at my upper back and shoulders. I'm also a quilter; little bitty pieces of fabric that need to be pressed many times. I use steam so seldom, and my old iron was so heavy, even when I'd drain it. Plus it had all those little bubbles on the sole plate. This new dry iron is so light -- the heat is great -- the flat sole plate moves like silk over the seams. I had such trouble finding a dry iron, and this price is so affordable. I'm in dry iron heaven here. *S*" - Annie, Chicago, IL

"OK, let's see if I can get my point across. I love this iron! I also have a Namoto that I paid $380 for plus had to have it repaired twice at $100 both times. Again, I love this iron!" - Delilah Methe, Metairie, LA

"I used an iron like this my grandmother gave me. It broke, and I had to find another one. I was looking online and found another one just like it. You made me so happy--I loved that iron." - Jane Vazquez, Tampa, FL
