Rated 5 out of 5 by Lovely Old fashioned Incense I just love this pleasant woodsy incense - I remember it from my childhood - same little log cabin to burn it in and aromatic pine scent (not perfumey-patchouli-overly sweet). The package is very quaint too. Price was righteous, shipping was prompt and ordering was easy. Thanks Vermont Country Store! January 13, 2017
Rated 1 out of 5 by Takes forever to light them, & they don't stay burning! The incense refill sticks take FOREVER to start burning & when they finally do start to burn, they go out after about 60 seconds! What a disappointment!! January 11, 2017
Rated 5 out of 5 by Annual tradition I bought my little cabin in 1971 for the first Christmas after we got married . I have been using the same cabin but couldn't find the same refills -- I was so excited to see several years ago that Vermont sold the SAME item - Same box - I order 2 boxes each fall - sharing one with my son who now has his own cabin to enjoy January 11, 2017
Rated 2 out of 5 by Odd Aroma I purchased this incense with the cabin - which I LOVE But the incense doesn't smell very good - it smells like burnt wood - not burning wood - but wood that is smoldering and stale. I was disappointed - was expecting more of a pine scent January 11, 2017
Rated 1 out of 5 by these are not refills for cabin these are sold as "refills'', on same page as cabin incense burner However, they are not the correct shape/size to fit in the cabin burner this is misleading advertiusing January 11, 2017
Rated 4 out of 5 by Tricky to light, but once you have the "secret" works everytime As mentioned in numerous reviews, these can be tricky to light. Building on Vicci's comment, the trick is to get the top of the cylinder (whichever side you're trying to light) to glow red around the entire rim. Best way, rotate the incense while it's in the flame, making sure the incense catches a flame as well. Remove it from the match, or whatever is being used to light it, when the flame extinguishes, blow on the red coal in he direction where the coal may not have lit. Once you have a red coal around the rim , full circle, place it in a holder. Takes a little practice, but I've never had one go out before a full burn this way October 6, 2016
Rated 4 out of 5 by Love the fragrance I start burning these in the fall, right through to spring. It smells so *cozy*. :) I found that the best way to light the sticks is holding the end (carefully!) over the edge of the gas flame on my stove. It takes 20 seconds or so (the stick flame will get bigger, but continue to keep it over the gas flame). Take it away from the gas flame and allow to burn for a few seconds on its own, then blow it out and then gently blow on it a little more. The tip will glow. At that point, put it into the holder or the cabin and it should produce a lot of smoke. Mine always burn down completely using this method. The unlit end of the stick doesn't really fit well into the hole in the cabin, but it can be wedged into it by a quick push-and-twist motion. Just make sure that it is level. December 1, 2015
Rated 4 out of 5 by love it! They are a little harder to light than other incenses. I need to keep the flame on it for 30 seconds or less so they stay lit. but the fragrance is wonderful! I have several of the mini brass candlestick shaped holders as well. my granddaughter love them. everyone loves the fragrance. August 21, 2015
