Back in colonial times bayberry candles were traditionally burned to the nub on Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve to ensure good luck for the coming year. Why tempt fate? This holiday season, break out these genuine bayberry tapers, hand-dipped by our neighbors in New Hampshire. The candles are made from the wax of real bayberries as opposed to being dipped in perfumes so they'll burn longer, cleaner, and brighter while infusing your home with the woodsy fragrance of pure bayberry. Sold as a pair. 8" tall.

Rated 5 out of 5 by the candles take me back to my childhood As a child, after church on Christmas Eve & arriving home, my parents would light the bayberry candle, putting the holder in a metal pan. I have followed that tradition since I got married. It's just something that I need to do and it brings back such wonderful memories about that evening. Thank you January 12, 2017
Rated 5 out of 5 by New Family Tradition I purchased these candles for my sister. She had mentioned wanting to have more traditions with her family during the holidays, so when I saw these candles, I thought they'd be a perfect gift. She loved the candles, enjoyed the history and meaning behind them, said they burned really well and will be getting them again next year. Thank you Vermont Country Store! January 11, 2017
Rated 5 out of 5 by scents of Christmas I live in Florida. I like the scents of pine and bayberry, and wanted green candles for my table centerpiece. I like ordering from Vermont because I know I'll get a wonderful scent. January 11, 2017
Rated 5 out of 5 by Love these candles Order these every year for Christmas and New Year. Scent is subtle and very superior to other versions which are not true bayberry. These are not inexpensive, but worth every penny in my opinion. January 11, 2017
Rated 2 out of 5 by High expectations I researched bayberry candles online before buying and found out that most have artificial scents, so I was thrilled to find your authentic bayberry candles and looking forward to scenting a room with them. I was willing to pay $25 for two candles. The presentation in a nice box was lovely, as was the little insert giving the history of bayberry candles bringing good luck. However, I am disappointed that the candles I received didn't give that wonderful bayberry aroma when burned. December 31, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Worth the price for a special treat I know some people are saying these don't have a scent but I think they do! It is more subtle than artificial scented candles because it is natural. It is a subdued scent that I find very beautiful and soothing. I am sensitive to strong perfumes, etc, but these don't bother me which is refreshing. I think they are so pretty also. Last Christmas I burned them on the day. I couldn't afford to buy them routinely but I feel they are definitely worth it for a special occasion. What a treat! December 13, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by perfect for good childhood memories Christmas of old meant the smell of bayberry candles and these are of the best quality-- relatively dripless and mildly scented. I am using them now for my advent wreath since our local store closed... January 10, 2016
Rated 4 out of 5 by Prettier than pictured This picture doesn't do them justice. Actually they are quite attractive and were a perfect hostess gift for Thanksgiving. They burned cleanly - no dripping, but no aroma to speak of. A little scent would be nice. And do ignore the picture that makes them look like cigars. December 1, 2015
