I have been getting tinsel from the Vermont Country store for three years now. Each year I add more to my tree... Last year (2014) I didn't use two packages, and got a larger tree this year (2015) so decided to order 9 more packages. I was extremely disappointed with the quality, weight, and overall look of the product compared to the years before. It was lighter in weight, and did not hang on the tree as nice as the previous packages. I took pictures I wish I could share to compare this difference, which is huge! It almost looks like strips of light weight aluminum foil whereas the years before it was much heavier and when hung on the tree, effortlessly dangled and twinkled in the lights. I know this isn't Vermont Country Store's fault- and I'd love to work with them to figure out just why this change was made and how we can get the old tinsel back, BUT- as this is real metal tinsel, it's not as good as it was the year(s) before.....

The product itself is nice. But there are only about 50 strands per package. I was disapointed there were not a lot more. It did not state on the website count per package. Although they waived the shipping charges, at around $40. (I ordered 2 sets of three packs), getting only 300 strands is not enough to cover my tree. I will supplement with the mylar icicles.

These are the kind we had when I was a child and I much prefer them. They don't stick to you: static is not an issue. One can easily break them in half for use at the top of the tree or on a table top tree. They do not blow around and tangle as you walk by them. You really do need to put them on one at a time but is a pretty easy process. I had 3 20-piece packs and that was plenty for a 6 foot tree. Last - they reflect the lights and are just plain pretty.

My husband and I both remember the tinsel we had as kids...the kind our Mothers would make us put on the tree one strand at a time and when she wasn't looking we would throw at our brothers and sisters. The tinsel they sell now in the drugstores is plastic and sticks to everything... even us and the dog. I have been ordering this REAL tinsel for a few years now and our tree looks fabulous. The tinsel drapes beautifully and stays on the tree. We can even re-use it. Thanks, Vermont Country Store!

When I was a kid we always had the real metal tinsel to drape from the tree branches but it either went out of style or it was deemed too dangerous a product and there was no more "real" tinsel being sold. My oldest sister had a bunch of it that she used on her Christmas trees and when the tree was being taken down she would patiently and painfully remove each strand of tinsel and place it in what was left of the original containers. I dont know if her kids ever saved any of it after she passed. I always remember those days of the real thing and how sometimes a strand would fall across the train set tracks and cause a shower of sparks. I fondly remember those days and wondered if I would ever see anything like tinsel again. Then I opened you latest catalogue and there it was. I had to have some and now I do and as of this writing we are waiting for our tree to arrive from No.Carolina.
Thanks for bringing a real Christmas back to me!

Our family Christmas tree always had tons of metal (lead?) icicles. We received a package of these last year as a gift, and put them on our tree this year. They looked great - what sparkle! We ordered more so our tree next year will look even better!

It's the heavy metallic tinsel we had on the tree in Germantown, Ohio. Just exactly what my daughter wanted.

After hunting for the perfect decoration to complete my quite old artificial tree which is graced with bubble lights from Vermont Country Store from a few years ago, I searched and searched for tinsel to complete the memorable effect. I finally thought to check with Vermont Country Store as I have used them for my other unique, no longer available products, and alas they had it. My family was amazed and wondered where I found the old fashioned trimmings - Vermont Country Store, of course!
