In the Corner by the FireplaceWhen I was a little girl, my parents bought a log cabin on Meadow Lake in PA. In was before the strip malls took the trees, the casinos, or traffic. Marshal's Creek had a real general store where you could buy lunch, a birthday present, penny candy and bait for fishing. A black and white TV with 7 channels gave us the news and sometimes Sesame Street, but it was the fire in the big stone fireplace that gathered the family. In the corner by the fireplace, my mother set up a card table that unfolded and was perfect for doing puzzles. Anyone who came to visit was welcome and often sat for longer than their cup of coffee helping complete the picture. Many of the candies on this puzzle box from your store would sit nearby. When I saw it, all those warm memories came flooding back. Such a simple gift - cardboard really pasted with a picture and cut up into a thousand sections. But if you sit and work on a puzzle together, you may be surprised what is also 'put together' woven and enjoyed - much more than just a picture.
