I don't know how many tea kettles and coffee pots I've cooked down on the stove and had to throw away, but I thought this timer would be perfect to alert me when to go back and turn off the stove.
It looks nice and hangs nicely on my neck, but I can't hear it unless I put it right up against my ear. Maybe instead of a hanging strap there should be an ear clip. Also the alarm is only 3 seconds long, which isn't enough time to notice it. I gave it 3 stars because it might work for people without a hearing loss, but I plan to send it back.

I'm 76 years old, and live alone. When I put something
on to cook or heat up, I often will get distracted doing
something else and forget the pot on the stove. A couple weeks ago it happened 3 times in one week!
I set out to find a timer you could wear around your
neck. Another well-known kitchen aid dealer said there was no such thing. I knew better. I had no luck finding one 'til I thought of you. Sure enough you carried it. I hung it right on my stove so I'll see it and be reminded to wear it. Thanks
to you, I'll save food and maybe my life.

If you're a person that loses track of time, this product is for you. I've been known to be seen w/two or three around my neck timing various things. One can even hear their ring over a lawn mower. I always use one while baking. I have no idea how many times they have saved a meal, or possibly a fire!
They were also handy during my teaching career for various tasks, behavior management, etc.

Being focused on the computer, I lose track of time so having a timer with a lanyard to hang one around my neck means now I don't worry that I will be late, taking the clothes out of the washer in the community laundry room. Or from the dryer, when their done.
Other people find it maddening, when they have to wait for a machine in the senior housing laundry room. Now, if the bell only rang LOUDER.

Rated 5 out of 5Â by LouBerry Finally - one my father can hear
My father can't hear worth a darn - and he knows it. Every day he rides his stationery bike for 10 minutes (pretty good for a man of 94) but can't hear timers go off so my mom has to listen for him. I bought this timer after he tried several others. After receiving it, he called with a big THANK YOU! He can hear it loud and clear.

Rated 5 out of 5Â by jeanthe Timer "necklace"
My Dad joked that my Mom could put this around his neck and set this when he leave to go out so he knows when to come home, but really I got it for him to make life bit easier: he is a fastidious chef for my Mom and carefully times her morning eggs/etc while standing staring at the clock--this way, he can feel free to move about the cabin. I should get one for myself, too.

Although this timer is better than what I found in local stores, it isn't nearly loud enough to alert me if I happen to leave it in the kitchen while I am in another part of the house. I used to have a time that was loud and could be heard everywhere. Maybe the manufacturer can be alerted to this.

Rated 1 out of 5Â by NoNameNoName Loud ticking and not dependable
First of all the ticking is so loud I would describe it as unbearable. Also, this stopped working in a dependable way after only two months of use.
