Childhood Halloweens I remember these light-up figures fondly. My mom bought the "cat" figure probably around the very early 70's and it was a sloppy detail but I still loved it so seeing yours with the more clean and careful detail, I was so taken back and then some when I opened the box. I did however put an "orange clear" bulb in it to give a bit more depth to the pumkin faces's color. I also love how both are very sturdy. I didn't have the pumkin with the hat growing up but I do remember it and so I bought it, as well. Would really love it if you could replicate some of the "window" figures of the 60's (I'm 53, lol) & 70's to add to your catalog in the future; the ones that we'd scotch tape to our windows & doors. Thanks. I always look forward to receiving your magazine and looking for the "new" products in it. November 13, 2012
Halloween memories from the early 60's When I was a boy in the early 1960's I used to see these great light up Halloween figures. You would see them in apartment windows and their bright orange lights always looked nice. I used to see them in Woolworth's but I couldn't afford them so I never got around to purchasing any of them. As years past, you would see them once in a while but they became less and less available and finally I noticed that you didn't see them any more. Over the years, Halloween decorations seem to have gotten uglier and creepier and I began to recollect some of the more innocent decorations I remembered from my boyhood. In recent years, I started to see some of these same light up figures in old flea markets. They were badly faded, dirty and old and not something I wanted to buy. Finally, to my great surprise and delight, the Vermont Country store began offering them for sale. They are the same wonderful items I remembered from childhood and I purchased them. They are made well, exactly like the ones I remembered and they look wonderful in the windows of my house. They are a nice, colorful decoration and a pleasant reminder of a simplier era. I recently bought an extra one. Happily they are also made in the USA which is becoming very unusual. I highly recommend them. October 30, 2013
Blast from the Past I purchased both Halloween figures. I remember having them growing up. They are a great addition to my Halloween collection and they also bring back great childhood memories. They look like the originals and I have been asked how long I have had them! October 29, 2013
No Story Really The figure is adorable, and adds a sweet touch to my other Halloween decorations. October 21, 2013
Ordered both and they look great in the front windows You will need black paint (or maybe even a good thick magic marker) to recover the black areas because when the light is on inside the figure(s), the black is not solid and very patchy. They come with a clear bulb but an orange or purple bulb would probably look much better. Just the right touch if you want a bit of Halloween spirit without going overboard, and a big plus for vintage lovers. January 7, 2013

What Our Customers Are Saying about Our Light-Up Halloween Figures …

"I bought one of these years ago and loved it -I don't know what happened to it. I actually had a light up Haunted House that was green. I never thought I'd find at least one of these again. Thanks." - Pearl, Bristol,

"We had this lamp when I was a child and it just wasn't Halloween without it. I'm so happy you've had it reproduced so my own daughter can enjoy it as much as I did!" - Nancy, Apex,

"I loved the magical black cat/pumpkin light, which I grew up with in the 1960s. At some point it broke and was thrown away, and over the past decades I have wondered if I only dreamt that it existed. When I saw this photo on the Vermont County Store website, I almost jumped out of my chair! Now I have a piece of my childhood back." - Tina, Madison, WI

"I purchased two scarecrows last year and was sorry I didn't purchase more. I'm now getting a cat for me and one of each for my sister, who is now a grandmother. My great nieces and nephew will love seeing these lit in "Mom-mom's" windows. I had thought that these wonderful decorations had been lost forever." - Michael, Glen Burnie, MD

"We used to go "Trick or Treating" through our neighborhood when I was a child with my mom walking with us but staying far enough back that it was still like "being alone." These lovely decorations would light the way to doors where neighbors would give out candy and exclaim over the "scariness" of our costumes. We'd run back to Mom to show her what we had just gotten, then on to the next house. I bought these to bring the new "Trick or Treaters" to my house. Thank you!" - Kathy Snapp, Church Hill, TN

"My granddaughter and I fell in love with these when we were looking through your new catalog. I ordered both and I'm so glad I did. They are completely enchanting!" - Dawn Hassett, Long Beach, CA
