Not what I had expected.
The aroma is not as I remembered it.

Wonderful Product
As some reviewers have said, a little goes a long way! I use after shaving on my face and neck. One bottle will last a while and I have never had a problem with it being overpowering. Retail drug store aftershave often have a flow restriction insert in the neck of the bottle, its a plastic insert in the neck of the bottle which makes the bottle opening much smaller. This bottle does not have that.
It seems to melt right into the skin but I don't pour it out of the bottle.....there is no flow control stopper in this bottle like drug store after shave - this is just a regular old style glass bottle so I control the volume I used not by pouring it out, but rather, placing one or two of my fingers to the mouth of the bottle and getting just a little on two or three fingers to apply. If one pours it into the palm of your hand like men on TV commercials do, I can see where some might overpower themselves if they use that method of application.

Glad to have found it.
I started using Bay Rum about the time I graduated from high school (1969). The stuff has been getting hard to find.
I should have tried The Vermont Country Store.
Great, mild scent. Long lasting. And The Lady in my life likes it.
Nothing more need be said. I will continue to order from the Ortens.

Love this stuff!
I bought this for my hubby just based on the description -- never smelled it before. I love it, and so does hubby, and now my teenage son is using it too! Doesn't smell perfume-y, just fresh and natural, with a spicy undertone. Really nice. Highly recommended. A little goes a long way, though, which is probably why some reviewers thought it was too strong -- they used too much.

Nice old time cologne, but too strong.
This is a wonderful old tyme cologne that would appeal to some folks and not others. I didnt care for it. It was too strong with the bay leaf odor overpowering. Don't get me wrong, there will plenty o f nice folks who like the stronger men's fragrances. It just wasnt for me. I tend to like the sweeter scents.

Scent is not too strong or overwhelming.
Bought this as a Christmas gift for my husband - he loves it and I do, too! The scent is not too strong or overpowering.

It is way too strong for me.
The first time I used it, I got too much in my hand and stank all day. Even using a small amount, it is too strong. I will not buy this product again.

having purchased this product before I decided to go with the lime scent instead of my usual.
I love the way bay rum makes you smell after a good shave. Also for the about $20 bucks I paid for it I feel its a great bargain, plus I get alot of compliments on how it smells too which is always a nice added bonus. In closing I'd just like to say I've purchased quite a few different items and will continue to do so I love this store and all the unique items.
