Tabu, the long-lasting lipstick first introduced in the 1950s to an overwhelming response, remained a favorite of women everywhere until it was discontinued in 1998. We found this beloved lipstick again for you, and Tabu feels, smells, and looks just like you remember. Bermuda Red is bright crimson in honor of the island’s vivid pink sand. Granada is a bright orange-red, reminiscent of a sunset. Acapulco is a rosy pink recalling wild roses that grow along the ocean shore. Bar Harbor is a dusty mauve. 0.14 oz. tube.

  • Tabu's higher wax content prevents smearing and creeping
  • Long-lasting lipstick color
  • Tabu lipstick in four best-selling colors

Smears easily & not long lasting This lipstick was a disappointment. It smears more than my other lipsticks and is not long lasting. I was very hopeful for a dramatic, long lasting lipstick. Granada was a nice 1940s vintage orange-red color and I did like that effect. June 10, 2014
Lipstick Like it Used to be I've been using lipstick since the 1950s, and this lipstick has the staying power and luster that lipstick had back then. I'm so glad that I ordered it. April 1, 2014
Great Lipstick I am 67 years old. I used to wear Tabu lipstick all the time when I was in my late twenties, early thirties. Then it just disappeared and I haven't used it since. I was dumbfounded when I saw it in your catalog! I could hardly wait to get it and it is just as good as I remembered it to be. Long lasting color. I am ready to try another color. Thank you Vermont Country Store! March 20, 2014
Long Lasting The color is pretty and it does last long. The original Tabu lipstick used to be scented with Tabu perfume and I expected the scent, however, it's better than the scented one, because having Tabu scent on my lips was kind of gross. I am going to order another one in a different color. February 21, 2014
Great color and wear Great color and wear. I was pleasantly surprised that a long-wear lipstick felt so comfortable throughout the day -- not dry at all. I usually use a lip balm with a regular lipstick to give darker colors a bit of sheerness and moisture. I test drove this lipstick without the balm to feel and see it "as is." It was fine -- comfortable throughout the day. However, given the brightness of many of these shades, some might prefer to add this bit of sheerness. I admit that I've been curious about Tabu lipstick since I've received the Vermont Country Store catalog through the years. I finally gave in during a bad snowstorm when I decided I NEEDED the Acapulco color for some tropical relief. February 16, 2014
Very nice colors and long lasting This lipstick has really rich, nice colors and feels good on the lips. If you blot, it lasts a long time. Even after eating all day, my lips still had color on them like they had been stained. Very nice. I will be ordering more. This is not like those expensive lipsticks you buy and after an hour, there is no color on your lips. This is old fashioned lipstick like your mom used to wear. January 17, 2014
Tabu Lipstick in Bar Harbor I recall as a child how unremovable the tale-tale evidence was of having made up my face with my Mom's Coty lipstick — without her permission, of course! Coty lip colors, much like Tabu, did not budge or feather. Alas, by the time I was a teenager Coty cosmetics were long gone. Enter Tabu. I discovered Tabu lipstick shortly before Dana Classic Fragrances discontinued it, sometime in the early 1990s. I hung onto that color for years, long after what remained had gone rancid, hoping to rediscover it. Tabu's staying power beats out just about every conventional lipstick on the market — not unlike the Coty lipsticks of old. So when I discovered the familiar Tabu name in a Vermont Country Store catalog one day some years back, I jumped on it even though, at the time, it was more than I had ever paid for a lipstick. Alas, my '90s-era shade of Tabu has yet to appear but I discovered another that is a rarer shade still: Bar Harbor. Shades of purple and plum have recently made a comeback but there are none on store shelves quite like the hue of Bar Harbor. Bar Harbor is a neutral, matte heather tone. If ever there were a lilac shade of nude, this is it: It is not too cool for those of us with warm undertones, not at all brown or ashy, not overly pink/mauve and not at all vampy or garish. The staying power is superb with no odd odor or odd texture, and frankly there is no other color like it on the market. I hope Vermont Country Store will offer more shades of Tabu in the future, which I also happen to like for the fact that the classic round tube is just slim enough to fit nicely in my vintage lipstick holder. Great Lipstick My mother-in-law has used this lipstick for many years and is so happy that you still carry it. She says she always gets compliments when she wears it. July 14, 2013

What Our Customers Are Saying about Our Tabu Long-Lasting Lipstick …

"In the 70's I bought a tube of Tabu Lipstick but the best I recall was that it was called "Argentina Red." I got it in Springfield, MO, at a big department store and thought I would never ever find it again. I asked in a post at thriftyfun.com and this website was given as the answer 3 times! I feel so lucky to now know it was not lost forever! THANKS!!!" - Veronica, Sedalia, MO

"If I told you how many lipsticks were in my makeup drawer, you wouldn't believe me. All of them either just smear all over or just don't stay on or chap my lips. I just received my Tabu lipstick and put it on. I can't tell you how pretty the color is (Granada) and how good it stays on. This lipstick is definitely going to be a main staple in my makeup drawer. I am going to buy another color soon. Thanks, Vermont Country Store!" - Janet D'Urbano, Newtown Square, PA

"I'm thrilled that I finally found a lipstick that really stays on! I plan on "stock-piling" the shade Bermuda Red, in case it becomes unavailable! Thanks for selling a lipstick that is far superior to anything I've ever purchased in the past!" - Mary Asher, Fort Lauderdale, FL

“I put this on in the morning, drink coffee or water throughout the day, eat lunch, and at 5:00 pm, it's still there, sometimes so rich looking that I don't have to reapply it at all. And it doesn't dry out my lips. Amazing stuff.” - DD Breeland, Dallas, TX

"I bought a few other longstay lipsticks from elsewhere at about the same time I purchased the Tabu lipstick from you. After giving a fair trial to all, I can truthfully say that the Tabu is the only one that lass, no matter the price. I will be ordering exclusively Tabu from now on." - Lois Tart, Laurel, MD
