Wooden Pick-Up Sticks
The sticks that I remember as a child were smooth. These sticks are rough - almost feel that they might break without much use.

Quiet & fun playtime for floor or tabletop
This is a great quiet activity where you can sit at a table with a small child & spill the pick-up sticks there, rather than on the floor. It is fun to do with kids, unlike many toys, & provides the opportunity for learning PATIENCE and caution while picking up the sticks. As the child gains finger dexterity & control, you can then buy the normally-sized, thinner Pick-Up Sticks. I suggest you play the game without "winners & losers" & emphasize that the only losers are those who get frustrated & quit.

toys from the past
I have five children and spouses born on or before 1960.
We always have Chinese exchange with all the grandchildren and parents every Christmas
night., drawing numbers , choosing a gift. next number stealing if want etc. A lot of laughs and fun. This year I have purchased oodles of your toys and games ( Parcheesi, Flutophone,Kaladiscope,1955 YoYo, Lamb Chop Puppet, Magic Eight Ball, The Dunking Bird, Porky and Gumby etc) to have an exchange for only the 8 parents. The Grandchildren should enjoy seeing fun from the past. I love secrets and surprises and this should bring on a lot of laughs. Then we sing solo parts of "Partridge in a Pear Tree" holding up the corresponding plate as our turn rolls around. This song has a wonderful Religious interpretation of Jesus. Merry Christmas to all!

Blast from the past
I purchased the Pick up Sticks, click clacks (2 of them) and the kalidescope for my family. The kids loved them (ages 17 and 13). My husband and I played several games of Pick up Sticks and reminisced our childhoods. We talked about all the fun games we played, like Jack Straws. Thanks for having these products.

Corporate Party with a 70's theme
My boss handed me the task of putting together a company party with a 70's theme. We had a DJ provide the music of hte 70's but I felt I needed something more so I googled "Toys of the 70" and The Vermont Country Store came up as one of the options. I was thrilled with all the choices for nostalgic toys! I purchased the Pick up Sticks along with the Fifteen puzzle (my favorite when I was a kid) Quick Clacks, Gumby & Pokey, Mr. Bill and a few decks of Children's cards including Old Mail (another childhood favorite of mine.) All of the toys from your store were used by the DJ as give-a-ways for dance competitions like "The Hustle" and the "Soul City Shuffle." Other contests included a YoYo competition and a best costume contest. We used Lava Lamps as center pieces for the tables which were given away at the end of the night. We also had a box of 70's candy at every table. There was a ball and jacks game along with a yoyo at everyone's place setting. The party was a big success and I can't thank you enough for making these items so easily accessible. This is a great store, Keep up the good work!
