Though Vermont may not have a seacoast of its own, the folks who make our savory chowders in Maine sure do, and they understand what it takes to make great-tasting New England chowders. They use only the finest and freshest ingredients to give these chowders a hearty, homemade flavor that will satisfy the most discriminating palates. The fish chowder, a favorite dish of JFK, is made with Alaskan pollock along with potatoes, onion, and seasoning. The lobster corn chowder contains tasty minced lobster meat and corn kernels, while the salmon chowder is made with bits of Alaskan salmon. Add a touch of butter and half-pint of milk or cream, heat, and serve. Condensed. 15 oz. can.

Rated 4.2 out of 5 by 14 reviewers.
Rated 3 out of 5 by More like potato soup Some assembly required. Adding heavy cream and butter might taste OK but this is more potato soup than chowder. Hard to detect any trace of lobster. March 31, 2016
Rated 3 out of 5 by Clam chowder Very thin soup, and lacks "flavor." Add more clams & potatoes. March 14, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Chowder nuts My husband and I love chowder. Buying the Lobster chowder was the best. I opened two cans of it and then found out that you also add milk. Well, we had enough chowder for two days. I served it with toasted sandwiches and it was so good my husband asked if we had more chowder for the rest of the winter. I said I did and will be ordering more. It is just fantastic. February 15, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Best of the best I've had lots of clam chowder but this is the best of any I've had in any restaurant. I order it two or three times a year. February 15, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Delicious! We gave this a try when we visited the Rockingham store for the first time last year. My husband absolutely loved it - the flavor is great, and it had a lot of clams. As a result, I decided to purchase more online and make up gift bags of Vermont Country Store foods as Christmas gifts. It was a big hit. I am about to go online and order more of this chowder to keep in the house. It's definitely the best canned clam chowder you can buy. January 11, 2016
Rated 4 out of 5 by Preventing Thin Chowder I tried two alternatives to a full can of milk. First I used just half a can of milk. That was ok. The second time I put in one half can of heavy cream and one half can of clam juice. The second "recipe" was a big hit with my family, and also again, when I served it to our neighbors who came for dinner. Making chowder from scratch is labor intensive, so this is a very convenient alternative. September 7, 2015
Rated 4 out of 5 by Even has lots of clams Of all your soups, your chowders are the best. I bought the clam and a friend bought the others. All very good. Things like this are what brings me back. June 6, 2015
