Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not the same as I remember This product is much drier than the date nut bread I had as a child. The date on the can was still in date, but it was still dry. This is the Vermont country store's version of the product we remember from our childhood. I've since found a better version for a cheaper price and moist too.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Childhood memories Growing up in the Territory of Alaska in the 40's and 50's we always had canned datenut bread during the holidays. It was truly a wonderful treat. This brought back so many wonderful memories and I thank Vermont Country Stores for that.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Dry version of date nut bread comes up short I was looking forward to the rich, moist date nut bread that Crosse and Blackwell used to produce but your version is seriously dry and not moist at all. So disappointing.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Date-nut bread memories I anticipated that the Date-nut bread would be as I remembered having years ago when it was regularly avaiilable in major chain stores. My concern is that it lacked moisture and seemed to be limited in nut pieces. But, I confess one's memory can be deceptive. I discovered the bread was more moist if sliced and then warmed in microwave. I ordered 12 cans and have given them as Christmas gifts to friends. No feedback from them so far.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Disappointing I still remember the days when I could purchase Dromedary date nut bread in a can, and had hoped that the Vermont Country Store product would be comparable, even with the many bad reviews. It is not. It is dry, crumbly, and has an odd taste. I will eat the rest of it, I suppose, because I have it, but never will I purchase it again and I certainly don't recommend it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fond memories! Growing up, a treat that my mother often prepared (especially for 'company') was date nut bread sandwiches made with cream cheese filling - and sometimes with a bit of strawberry preserves mixed into to the cream cheese. My aunt liked these little sandwiches and adopted the recipe for her family to enjoy on special occasions. Her daughter, my cousin, and I were on a trip together recently and we were reminiscing about date nut bread! Lo and behold, The Vermont Country Store still sells it! As a surprise, I had 2 cans sent to her ~ she was so pleased! She's saving it to do the little sandwiches as appetizers for their family Thanksgiving dinner. Thanks, Vermont Country Store for carrying things that bring back fond memories.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Disappointed I was hoping this would taste like the brown bread that comes in a can, but this was disappointing. Not very good at all and I would not recommend. However, if you toast it and add butter, that helps :-).
