Nothing beats the taste of lobster! This is a gift I give my husband for Father's Day, his birthday, our anniversary, and Christmas because he loves the richness and taste of this lobster chowder. This is a "must" in our home and when we have guests for dinner we treat them to something extra special - this lobster chowder! April 3, 2013
Great for low salt diets I initially got the clam chowder version of this for myself because I do not often like soup from a can (versus just homemade) because of the sodium levels. I do not have a special need to reduce sodium, but do tend to taste it more than others and tend to be health conscious. My father, on the other hand, does have a dietary restriction ever since he had a heart attack a couple of years ago, and in spite of leading a healthy life (got to love genetics!). He was rather disappointed when he received his sodium restrictions, feeling he would never again get to enjoy a bowl of clam chowder. But I had the solution, as I'd found your Salt Your Own chowders a few years earlier. I got him some cans of it as a birthday gift, and taking the opportunity to try the lobster one (quite tasty, too). My mother thought it a little silly to give clam chowder as a birthday present, but did understand. And my father thoroughly enjoyed it. I tend to have to add a little salt for my taste, though by all means much less than would be in a regular can of chowder. But it is a dream come true for my father, who spent many years of his military time on the coast of Maine. Your chowder has allowed him to continue to enjoy wonderful tastes and memories of the sea. And I continue to recommend it to friends and family. Oh, and I have never had an issue with the meat not tasting fresh (the lobster just falls apart in your mouth) and the creamy texture of the soup base is perfect. There is a great balance of ingredients in every can. It is a little costly for an all the time soup, but worth having as a special treat. Certainly worth keeping in the pantry. February 22, 2013
Not 'Salt Your Own' As a 'soup nut' and avid cook, your soups and chowders are great. However, the 'salt your own' leave something to be desired. I feel that seasonings should be added during the cooking process. Your regular Manhattan Clam Chowder is the best I've ever had. I'm not a big lobster fan. January 4, 2013
