Used to eat these all the time as a child. Figured they had gone by the wayside until I found them at VCS. I get them just about every year. I live in Florida so I only order them in the fall and winter. Got some when it was still warm here and had to put them in the refrigerator for them to harden up and get the paper off.

I dont know if i should be sending you this email because i dont want to ofend your family. Its a minor complaint about my last order. I wanted bay rum life savers but i guess the company does not make them any more. The mary janes we could not get the wrapings off they were stuck to the candy we even had to throw a very few away. As for the hard candy we thought they were filled with peanut butter. I have to take the blame for most of this complaint, i should have order a little better. Dont feel ofended and we will be ordering again. Thank you for your very good products. Respectuffly Gene & Carlene.

I have not had these for at lease 55 years so when I found them I had to get a bag.
My youngest daughter and the grand son came over for a visit and now there is two more generations of family that also like them.

Growing up in the country, there was a corner store where my family would pick up the paper, meats sliced fresh while you waited and there was a soda fountain and glass cases filled with penny candy.
Mary Jane, buttons, candy cigarettes, sinsin, licorice whips, squirrel nut, fizzy sticks, wax bottles with colored liquid. Those were the days.

Our family lived in Forest Park, IL and I attended Grant-White grammar school, 1943 to 1946. School was about a six block walk from home and passed a Mom & Pop shop with a long candy counter. Mary Jane's were one of my fav candies to sneak into my mouth during classes. Luckily, I was never caught by my teachers. Tasting Mary Jane's again brought back tasty memories and the toffee practically melts in one's mouth.

My brother's 82nd birthday was coming up, and I wanted something nostalgic to give him. After going through your on-line catalog, I saw the Mary Janes and remembered that he LOVES peanut butter and molasses, so it was an easy choice. He appreciated getting them and is enjoying them each day - says they taste just like they did 75 years ago! Thanks for being so true to the old-time taste.
