This wonderfully tasty compote of tart cherries with rum comes to us from Hungary—made by Bende—a family-run company since 1935 when Miklos Sr. opened his first grocery store in Budapest. Carrying on a longtime tradition of preserving summer’s bounty with spirits to be enjoyed through Eastern Europe’s long, cold winters, Bende’s “Rumos Meggy Kompot” or Tart Cherries with Rum Compote bursts with bright tangy cherries and mild rum. No pitting or no canning required; the work is already done for you. 24.5 oz. jar.

  • Made using a traditional European method to preserve summer fruits with spirits
  • From a family-run Hungarian business, started in 1935
  • No pitting, no canning, the work is done for you
  • Enjoy spooned over ice cream, cheesecake, or blintzes

Preserve cherished European traditions with every spoonful of sour cherry compote mildly flavored with rum.

Tart Cherries in Rum 1 5 1 1
Not as expected The Cherries In Rum, advertised as cherry Compote. was disappointing. The ingredients listed alcohol and rum essence which did not taste like rum at all and the cherries took on this flavor which I did not like. However, let me say that I also ordered Vermont, 1 yr, cheddar cheese which was wonderful. I savor every bite. I would give the cheese a 5 star. December 17, 2012
