Just how decadent are these English Eccles cakes? In 1653 the Puritans banned them due to their exotic richness, but obviously to no avail as these sinfully delicious cakes continue to tempt palates the world over to this day. Originating in Eccles, England, these “sweet patties,” as they‘re also called, are made by filling puff pastry made with real butter with succulent raisins and Vostizza currants and sprinkling with sugar. The result is a flaky treat with a sweet fruity flavor that’s simply irresistible. Perfect for tea time or dessert. Four cakes per 7 oz. package; you get 2 packages.

  • Once banned by the Puritans for their exotic richness
  • Made with buttery puff pastry
  • Filled with raisins and Vostizza currants
  • 4 cakes per 7 oz. package
  • You get 2 packages, for a total of 8 cakes!

Treat your sweet tooth right with authentic baked goods sourced from around the world and made with the finest of ingredients.

Nostalgic treat I absolutely love Eccles cakes - freshly made that is. These of course cannot be freshly made but for an occasional nostalgic treat they will fit the bill. I will order them again whenever I need an English 'lift'. November 27, 2013
Same as those made by my English grandmother My maternal grandmother was an English cook. She immigrated with her young family to RI where my mother was born [number 10 of 11] in 1910. Every afternoon we would have tea accompanied by something delicious she made that day. Eccles Cakes were a favorite of mine. The last time I visited my mother in Warwick before she passed, she made Eccles Cakes for my road trip back to Illinois. Somehow I never got a copy of her recipe. Finding these authentic, delicious, pastries really touched my heart. Eccles Cakes with a cup of Yorkshire Gold Tea brought back a flood of warm memories. October 17, 2013
