Some Things You Never Forget When I was a kid, there was a movie theater that had double features for kids every Saturday for 25 cents. My dad would drive my brother and sister and me there extra early to stand in a line that was about a block and a half long. We each were given 31 cents—a quarter for the movie and 6 cents for a Slo Poke. We would make them last through most of the two movies even after the stick came out. It was even a wonderful toy—as they warmed up, we would pull on them to see how far we could stretch them out. Nowadays a Slo Poke costs more than 6 cents and there is no stick to worry about—just the same sweet caramel flavor that was so much a part of my childhood Saturday afternoons that I will never forget it.
