Grandma's Dish was Always Full!! I'm 54 years old but when I was young my Grandma and Grandpa O'Brien, hard-working immigrants from Ireland lived in Brooklyn. My family was living on Long Island and we would go there on Sunday afternoons for a roast beef dinner. Before dinner we would sit in the enclosed front porch where Grandpa smoked his pipe and told us what had happened during the week. My sister and I were not interested in the least but would sit there and enjoy the Butter Mints. There was always a small Waterford Crystal bowl with them in it. I miss Grandma and Grandpa but whenever we get to the Vermont Country Store we stock up. I hope to keep the same tradition for my grandchildren to come.
