Rated 3 out of 5 by childhood candy my grandma always had both the strawberry and black licorice stocked for whenever my seven siblings and I visited which was often. We got a piece each time for years. And the Licorice was to die for sooooo good, no other licorice compared. after she passed away (2 years ago) we stopped getting it. I decided to purchase some and started the tradition back up in my house in memory. I order to bags of the Strawberry licorice. I was so eager, waited patiently for the package to arrive. and upon arrival I immediately opened it to eat a piece. I was SO disappointed. They must have changed the recipe, it did not taste the same. I thought maybe it was just me. I had my parents and siblings all come over and have a piece too. ALL 10 of us were disappointed that it didn't taste the same. I do believe theey changed the recipe. Now its not terrible but it doesn't taste nearly as good as it use to. My guess as to what was changed in the recipe was the addition of citric acid. Im sure it is being added to substitute using less real sugar(which is more expensive). we were sad of the flavor change. but its not terrible. Id eat it if I was offered a piece, but I wont purchase again. sadly. September 11, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Hubby loves, loves and loves! My hubby is a Licorice addict, which makes him very picky about the Licorice he purchases. This was my first order from The Vermont Country Store and most certainly will not be my last! Hubby loves this Licorice and eats it as his dessert every evening. He does not like the red, only the black. This Licorice is the best he has ever had and we will be purchasing more. I love the Vermont Country Store and was so happy to have stumbled on it! God Bless! August 26, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Hubby's Favorite We live in a small town mid-Missouri, city's are 100 miles away so thus are Special Treats...but not with Vermont Country Store catalog services. For all occasions this licorice is my husband's favorite and always wished for and his hints come weeks in advance. His delight of this product is close to that of a kid at Christmas. We'll order again soon, he's already finished the last order. He says Kookaburra is the best he's ever had! June 29, 2016
Rated 3 out of 5 by licorice The licorice I recently purchased is not of the same quality I received as a gift at Christmas. The packaging is less and the licorice is not as good. March 30, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Going, going, gone! These candies were gone in no time. I'll have to save up my pennies for another bag. I ordered strawberry because I'm not a fan of black licorice. But the reviews are so good I may just have to try them! February 23, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by ummm delish! I first tried kookaburra Licorice many years ago when I used to summer in Ludlow, VT. I will not eat any other licorice than Kookaburra!!!! Rated 5 out of 5 by Intense The taste of this product is very good and more importantly this licorice doesn't stick to my dental work the way the licorice Scotties do. June 7, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by best black licorice i've tasted I started eating black licorice with my German grandmother. We ate black licorice boats and the Co. stopped making them. I've tasted all the black licorice that I found. Then, I found this magazine and it advertised Kookaburra black licorice. I didn't hesitate to order it. It was just what I had remembered as good licorice. I've continued to order it and will do so way into the future. My grandmother would be proud of me. Thank you for carrying this delicious treat.
