Every bit as delicious as the carnival treats you loved as a kid, these flaky pastries are still golden and crisp, and topped with sweet cinnamon sugar. Wonderful with coffee or tea or topped a scoop of ice cream for a summery dessert. Each elephant ear measures a whopping 7"x5" and is baked fresh to order at a 130-year-old bakery in Upstate New York.

To ensure oven-to-door freshness, this item is shipped via 2-Day Express on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays to street addresses in the contiguous U.S. only. Orders placed after 6:01 a.m. ET on Mondays will ship on Tuesday. Orders placed after 11:00 p.m. ET on Monday will ship on Wednesday. Orders received after 12:00 p.m. ET on Wednesdays will ship the following Monday.

Easter Delivery: Order by noon EDST on April 12th.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Childhood Relived Wow! Delicious. I am 70 years young and these remind me of my childhood. At 17, in high school, I would go to Howards Bakery in Southern Pines NC. and buy a dozen elephant ears @ .05 each. Then sell them for .10 at school. Paid for my lunch. If I didn't know better I'd say these came from Howard's bakery. Thanks Ortons.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Not flaky, but a VERY good pastry "Elephant ears" and flakiness, not to mention crumbs all over the place, go together. I bought one box for us and another for friends and we were all surprised that we received a soft pastry. Delicious, but still. The good news is that if you put it in a preheated oven for a few minutes, it'll crisp up -- but I think it's important that this be explained to fans of conventional, crispy elephant ears. The first morning, I just stuck two into the toaster (which heated but didn't crisp them) and dropped two fried eggs on each. The other good news is that heck, it was delicious that way, too. My only complaint is that everyone who knows what elephant ears are will be mystified by the softness of these "Danish pastries." Just put in a note: "To serve crisp and flaky, heat in oven until flakiness is achieved." Thanks for existing, VCS.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from ...just like you remember from when you were a kid When we were kids, we used to go to a bakery that was some miles away from our rural area. While our parents picked out rolls and cookies or a pie for a special occasion, we were allowed to buy an elephant ear. When I opened this package, I was skepical, fondly remembering the crispy flakiness of old days. Imagine my surprise when I bit into this and experienced the same taste and texture from 50+ years ago! They maintain their freshness for at least two weeks if kept in the original packaging. I know this, because I have been doling myself only 1/2 of an ear or less per day for more than two weeks. Stand over the sink, because the flakes and granulated sugar will fall with each bite.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from a reminder of childhood I remember eating these pastries as a child in the 1970's and could never find them in any bakeries so I was excited to see them in your catalog. When I first tasted them I was disappointed but then I experimented and discovered that putting them in a 350 degree oven for about 8 to 10 minutes and then letting them cool worked perfectly. They came out crispy and brought back all those memories of childhood. I love these. Please keep offering them in your catalog.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Dissapointment I was so excited. I had wanted to order these since last year. I was disappointed when I tasted them. Too dry. I remember a much moister, chewier ear from our bakery. Broke my heart.
