In the early 1900s, homemakers were frugal with their funds and nothing went to waste. One innovation of the time is this playful sock monkey. Mothers sewed them from worn out cotton red-heeled work socks. Today we've done the work for you (using new red-heeled work socks, of course). Adults and children alike still find these stuffed animals lovable and fun. Cotton/nylon/acrylic/spandex with polyester filling. Approx. 18" tall. Spot clean only. USA. Ages 3 and up.
Just like the ones moms used to make out of red-heeled socks

This was a Birthday gift from me to me. Everyone was promising they would get me one but they never came through. I named him Beau and he has brightened my days since he arrived. He is my new found buddy since I am home bound and unable to go out. This may not be a big thing to some people, but I live alone and Beau has definitely cheered me up.

I had a sock monkey when I was a little kid. When I saw this
sock monkey on the VCS website, I just had to have it for
myself. So, Merry Christmas to me.

This sock monkey goes great with my sock monkey flannel sheets and flannel blanket, and he is just as well crafted. His name is Abe, and we like to hang out together on lazy Sunday afternoons. To me, he's a reminder not to take a lot of things in life too seriously. If you have room in your life for a little fun and silliness, this sock monkey might be for you, too!

I have been looking for a Sock Monkey for years; as, I had one when I was a child. I had never heard about the Vermont Country Store; until, the catologue arrived in time to treat myself to an early Christmas gift. I ordered one and fell in love with him all over again!
He's well-made and cuter than the dickens; as, he sits beside a very old, colorful clown. They share a space together on a child's bench--prominently, next to our fireplace. They look very happy. He does get held once in awhile; which, is a good thing! He offers comfort to me on a yucky day.
He does get nudged a bit by my 3 yr. old cat-sometimes a bit too roughly; and, I have to tell her that she needs to be gentle with Sammy (yes, that's what I've named him). Finally, I'd encourage new parents to buy a Sock Monkey; for, its' cuddly factor and its' incomparable uniqueness.

What Our Customers Are Saying about Our Sock Monkey …
"Original Sock Monkey was made from socks made in Rockford, Ill., I think. We played with ours all the time. Have been looking for them for awhile now, but all I can find are made in China. Will Not Purchase! I know the factory is closed. But if your Sock Monkey is Made in the U.S.A., I will purchase 2 of them. Otherwise, no way."-H. Ann Agostini, Roscoe, IL
"I received one of these wonderful monkeys (now named Pendleton) for Christmas 2011. YES! It is really made in the USA!!!! Don't hesistate to buy one!" - Bonnie, Leavenworth, KS
"A very special thank you, Vermont Country Store: I could not believe my eyes when I saw the Sock Monkey sheets in the first catalog I received from your company. Our 8-year-old granddaughter loves her Sock Monkey doll, even over her American Doll and Barbies. I wanted the sheets for her Christmas, but they were on backorder. We got them in January so our granddaughter had another Christmas, and she was so thrilled. Her mother put the sheets on while she was at school, and what a wonderful surprise she had when she saw them. The sheets are of great quality and cute as they can be! Thanks again." - Patricia J. Hunt, Antioch, TN
"My mom just ordered this monkey for me. I'm 53 now. She said my daddy got it for me when I was a baby and cutting teeth so I would stop biting. She said I chewed on his banana. I remember dragging the monkey around the house and playing with it for years. I called him 'Munk Munk.'" - Leta, Tulsa, OK
