These Cutters Do Not Cut!
I'm afraid I must agree with other reviewers. The bar is almost impossible to open and close, although a smidgen of oil did help some. However, the major problem is that the cutters do not cut moderately thick toenails much less the "toughest or thickest toenails" they claim to tame! I gave them to a neighbor for use on her young child's paper-thin nails. They work ffine for her....

They get the job done - fast!
Been fooling around with drugstore clippers for far too long. Those problem toenails are now under control!

These clippers do not function as promised.
I read one review of this product that said the clippers were impossible to "lock" and "unlock" - and this is true. Also, the spring is defective and the clippers do not cut well. I have some clippers that look just like these, but they are German made and work perfectly. This product is made in Italy and is "cheaper" in every way. This purchase is my first disappointment with The Vermont Country Store which, as a rule, offers quality products.

Disappointed
Had extreme difficulties unhooking the locking bar (and now cannot get it locked again) and once I did get it unlocked, the spring just shot off and flew to the floor. The blades are not sharp enough and do not fit together completely. Can't use for myself, but may try these on my dog's nails.
