Childhood Memories I grew up in Texas. My grandmother, "Grammy Jewel", loved celebrating Christmas. I remember smelling all of the special candies, cakes and cookies she always made when we entered her home. I loved the gingerbread house she always had just inside the entry. But most of all, I remember being mesmerized by the Bubble Lights on her Christmas tree. I inherited those lights somewhere along the way. They have long since stopped working and I'm not sure where they are after several moves since then. It is wonderful to know I can order them through Vermont Country Store. I always find the most amazing things on your site! November 20, 2012
Holiday Bubbling Smiles Since I was a child I have loved these Bubble Lights I first saw on my Hungarian aunt's tree! Loved watching them adding such wonder and joy. Bought them for my children years later. Babies love to watch them bubble and makes kids smile! They are cool to hang on light fixture over dining room table for holidays for all to watch Bubble! The Joy of our Bubble Lights When I was a little girl we had bubble lights for our Christmas tree. As I grew older (maybe about 10) I started to notice that Santa did not always use the bubble lights to decorate the tree and those years without the bubble lights came to be known as "a poor" Christmas. My little brother and I would wake up early and race downstairs to see if the bubble lights were bubbling. The joy we would feel to see those lights was a feeling I thought I would never feel again. I know that sounds selfish but we were kids and toys were all we wanted. " Poor Christmas' " we received items that we needed; a new coat, socks, pencils. My husband and I took a trip to Vermont a few years ago and happened upon your store by accident. As I was floating through your store with a feeling of utmost happiness I spied the Christmas section and to my surprise I saw the bubble lights. I grabbed my husband and pointed to them. He had heard my story of the bubble light Christmas many times. He looked at me and smiled and said " how many strings do ya think we'll need" Last year was the first year my little brother was able to come see us at Christmas, I walked him over to the tree and he said with a smile on his face " no more poor Christmas' for you, that's awesome !" This year when we visited your store I bought 2 strings for my brother. He came up for my birthday and I gave him his bubble lights and I said to him as he was looking down at the lights " you have done a wonderful job raising your son on your own" and I jokingly nudged him and said "always put the lights on....you are richer than you know"...he looked up at me with tears in his eyes. Remembering the special lights of Christmas Every time I see these lights it brings me back to the fondest of memories, to the little white church on the hill, in our town, at Christmas. The church bells ringing, the excitement, the smells of the tree and garlands and these bubble lights. Every year they were draped with the garland along the front banister and when we kids stood on the platform to sing, in the darkened room, they were so beautiful, and as they bubbled you could hardly take your eyes off them. It was magical. Every time I see these lights, I also see mom and dad and grandma setting in the audience, with pride on there faces, looking back at me, and I smile. November 7, 2012
Reflections of Christmas Past The Christmas trees of my childhood were loaded down with everything except the family cat. The tinsel was lead, the ornaments gilded with mercury, and our bubble lights filled with oil--a disaster waiting to happen. We never did have a disaster though, other than the cat knocking over the tree a few times. Vermont Country Store's Candolier Bubble Lights take me back to my pre EPA childhood without the danger. Nothing can ever match the beauty of watching the patterns the bubbles make on the ceiling while viewing the tree in a dark room with only its lights and the glow from the fireplace for illumination while carols play. The Lights of my Childhood I love bubble lights. I could hardly wait for them to go on the tree. They were so pretty to look at. I grew up in Arizona. We did not have a White Christmas unless it was in our dreams. But once the bubble lights were on the tree, my vision would start. I would try to imagine what it must be like to live the Christmas that you see in pictures. Snow on the ground, a roaring fire in the fireplace. Stockings hanging from the mantle and those beautiful bubble lights lighting up the tree and the room. And then sadly reality would come rushing in. It is a roaring 80 degrees in the room and there is no fireplace but those beautiful bubble lights still carried the image of the perfect Christmas. Then somewhere around the age of 10 the lights started burning out. I remember oh to well the Christmas I was 13 and all the lights were dark. I felt like someone had stole my Christmas. And the lights were not in vogue by then. My mother(knowing my love of them) searched high and low for those lights. But they were not to be found. Then in 1991 my daughter, granddaughter and I made a long time dream come true. We moved to Vermont. We arrived in May. We started in June planning the Christmas we were going to have. And then in August or September we got the best gift in the world. A Vermont Country Store catalog. And in that catalog were my beloved bubble lights. Winning the lottery could not have made me happier. So after all those years, I had bubble lights again. And Glass Wax to paint on the windows with. So the year of 1991 my Christmas dream come true. I had snow, a roaring fie, stockings on the mantle and with a big thanks to The Vermont Country Store my beloved bubble lights. I have not been without them since. Thank you. What Our Customers Are Saying about Our Bubble Light Candolier …

"Just assembled my bubble lights, and I have to tell you it just took me back 40-plus years. My late grandfather had hand-built a chandelier of bubble lights over 40 years ago and I can remember getting so excited every Christmas when he would bring it down from the attic and place it in the window of their front room. It left a lasting impression that I carry to this day. When I saw this in your catalog, I just had to have it and it does NOT disappoint!!! I feel like I am 6 again and it's Christmas at my grandparents' house waiting for Santa to visit us and for us to celebrate as a family!! Thanks for having such wonderful and unique items in your store, you have made my Christmas much brighter this year!!!" - Mark Sheppard, Charlotte, NC
