Old-Time Vermont Weather Sticks (Set of 2 Sticks)

Old-Time Vermont Weather Stick

As fair weather approaches, our weather stick reaches toward the sky. When the weather begins to turn, the stick points to the ground. Changes in barometric pressure set it moving. Each slim stick comes with a brass nail for mounting outside on a wall or window frame. Vermont farmers keep one on the porch. Approx. 14", lengths will vary.

  • Barometric pressure makes it work
  • Up means sun's on it's way, down means the weather's turning for the worse

Fair weather friend Pa was upset. The dish installer came and broke his weather stick. He actually filed a claim to get it replaced but they denied it. When his birthday came this year, I began the search to replace his beloved weather stick. So happy for your store! Not only did you have them, but the card and sticker on the box with shipping made it an extra special gift. Now he can "predict" the weather again and is very happy. Vermont Country Store is not just a fair weather friend but a friend in need! May 17, 2013
Regarding review from Alabama I have to laugh at their review . Try turning the weather stick that is pointing the wrong direction upside down. LOL I have bought 16 of these and given to friends and neighbors. Its unreal how they all work so well. A real good gift for the person has everything. AGAIN TRY turning the weatherstick over as you can hang it from either side... Good Luck Enjoy Jack Eugene Oregon May 11, 2013
International effort I am always on the hunt for unusual gifts to give everyone in the family at Christmas ..we call them power gifts. With family in D.C., the other Washington ,Texas and California the stick made for great opening question "up or down" whenever call ing or texting. Then I realized what a great hostess gift they make and the sticks are now resident in England ,Portugal ,Nicguagra, Colombia, Brazil and Mexico! given the time and money we plan to populate the globe!!! Weather sticks Very satisfied with my weather sticks. They are working as I write to you. January 31, 2013
They work!!! We rented a camp for a week & they had a weather stick there...we were so fascinated with it. We can't explain it, but the stick was never wrong. I bought the set of two for my husband for Christmas...we have one at our home & we'll put one at our camp. Great conversation piece too...we're very happy with our purchase. January 12, 2013
Weather in a glance We live in FL and know (before the weather man) when it will rain. We are now sharing the weather predictor with Northern Ohio and Mid Michigan. We are sure they will have great success with snow! December 29, 2012
Every home should have one! I purchased these as "gag" gifts two years ago for my family and a few friends. Everyone loves these weather sticks and have asked where they were purchased. My oldest grandson just recently moved from Michigan to Atlanta, Georgia and in the process of moving the weather stick was broken. He wanted another one and it was mailed to him this week! Awesome; entertaining; delightful; and never wrong! Excellent rating and a great gift! Customer in OHIO December 5, 2012

What Our Customers Are Saying about Our Old-Time Vermont Weather Sticks (Set of 2 Sticks) …

"I have wanted the Weather Stick since 1985, when on a trip to New England with my mom, I first got one. It broke a year or so later & I didn't know where or how to get others. Thanks, now I intend to give some as gifts so others can enjoy it!" - Beverly LaPoint, Arden, NC

"My Vermont weather stick came. IT WORKS! A great conversation piece! Thank you." - Winifred M. Pinkerton, Lititz, PA

"We received the Vermont Weather Stick as a gift, and we're currently in the middle of our first Indiana winter with our stick. So far, it's been right on the money. Down with bad weather, straight out as the weather begins to improve, and up when the weather is good. Fun to watch, and the grandkids are fascinated. I'm ordering some to give as gifts!" - Paulette Bowen, Indianapolis, IN

"As a user of the weather stick for decades, I have always relied on its accuracy to predict the changes in the weather. But my greatest joy is hearing back from students who've taken my suggestion and used the stick for a school project. Specifically, I've told them to take a regular barometer and set it alongside the stick. Using a cardboard chart with a graph on it, plot the position of the stick and the reading from the barometer for a few weeks. It can be noticed quickly how accurate the stick is as it returns to the same positions per readings on the barometer. All the kids report an A earned. This is a great teaching tool." - Jody, Woodstock, VT

"We have used this weather stick for 13 years -- same one. We go to Florida for the winter, set up our little weather station, and it never lets us down." - Paul Watson, North Bennington, VT

"We received one of these as a gift over 20 years ago. Since then, we have purchased probably 6 more. We gave 2 as gifts last year for Christmas, and I was today asked to purchase two more, as one of the receivers wanted two more for his sons. We live on a farm, and we watch it constantly, The first one we had for years was broken in a storm, so we purchased more. Everyone loves them, and so do we." - Patrica K Pyle, Stockton, MO
