Rated 4 out of 5 by Nice, but REALLY like the 60's? Not Really. I loved 'the 60's'! The majority of my furniture is Danish Modern, and from the 60's, so I wanted a tree from the same era. A few years ago, I purchased a 'retro style' 6 ft. aluminum tree on an after christmas sale from our local department store, for only $5.00. (Apparently, no one else in town was too interested in walking down memory lane, so I did get an excellent deal.) I knew exactly what I was buying, so if I wasn't satisfied, it was my own fault. That one really was pretty flimsy, but for $5.00, what the heck! I used that one for a few years, but really wasn't at all satisfied, so when I saw this particular tree advertised, I decided to buy it. It arrived yesterday, so I hurried and put it up. I really was rather disappointed. Yes, it's pretty, and in reality, it is nicer than my cheezy $5.00 one. BUT, what isn't mentioned is that the 'ends' of all the branches have WHITE 'needles' mixed in with the silver ones. I suppose it's so that it looks like snow, but that really rather defeats the purpose of having an aluminum tree in the first place, in my opinion! So, the trunk portion is silver, and the majority of the branches are silver, with the exception of the front ends. However the front 'end' is what you actually SEE when you look at a christmas tree. In the pictures in the catalog and the photos online, the tree does look rather 'white'. I attributed that to the 'flash effect', but it really is rather 'white'. So, is it really the same as the 60's trees? Nope! Is it pretty? Yes! And it's certainly 'fuller' than the original aluminum trees. it's probably as SIMILAR to the 60's trees as we are going to get in 2015. In reality, the good memories we have of 'a 60's Christmas', are probably influenced by nostalgia, and remembrances of the traditions, cool toys that were under the tree, and just the happiness that goes along with being a child at Christmas time. That said, I decided to just keep the tree, as well as my 'memories' as long as I can until Alzheimer's, or some other form of dementia strikes sometime in the 'hopefully far distant' future! Rated 4 out of 5 by Can't wait to display this tree! In the 60's my and my husband's parents had the aluminum Christmas trees with the color wheel. This year and for years to come we are going to display this tinsel tree. It was easy to assemble as was the color wheel. It will bring back good holiday memories for our family and friends and create new ones. November 13, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Can't Wait until Christmas I ordered this tree and I am very pleased with it. It is a typical retro silver tree and we have taken it out of the box and it is very easy to assemble. As soon as the color wheel is back in stock I will be buying that!! May 24, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by What an awesome tree! This has been a sad year as my dad passed away in July. I wanted something different, even though we have a choose and cut tree farm. I wanted retro but I couldn't afford them. Then I saw this tree. I saw the reviews and decided to buy it. When I opened the box I was so excited with the shimmering of the tree. It was so easy to put together. I didn't even have to ask my husband to help. For the 6 ft tree there were 3 sections. Once together I spread out the limbs and it was just beautiful and everything I had hoped for. I highly recommend it. December 25, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Just like Grandma's I purchased the 4 foot tree several years ago because it reminded me of the tree my grandmother had some 40+ years ago. I still have a real tree every year as my Christmas tree and set this one up in a different room to use as my winter tree. I decorate it with pine cones, berries and birds and keep it up well into March. One year I even kept it up through Easter and had eggs hanging from it. It will be enjoyed for many years to come. Who knows, maybe a red, white and blue 4th of July tree? March 30, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Smaller tree just like my grandmother's This is a very nice tree for a tabletop tree. It looks just like the larger one my grandmother had in the 50's and 60's except she had the color wheel. Thank you for bringing back memories, December 18, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Quite Pretty I was afraid this would just look cheap, but it's really lovely and old fashioned looking. Perfect. December 2, 2013
Rated 3 out of 5 by beautiful but short It is as beautiful as expected but note that the "tree" is NOT 6' AS ADVERTISED. it is 5.' it only 'grows' when you point the last wire BRANCH straight up, which of course can't hold a topper without being bent. super disappointed:(. November 30, 2013

What Our Customers Are Saying about Our Silver Tinsel Christmas Tree …

"This was the tree my family had in our living room when I was a small child. My sister and I would play under the tree for hours with our Thumbelina dolls, watching the color wheel change the color of the tree and dreaming of what Santa would bring us. Many fond memories are associated with this tree, and I wanted to share the same experience with my children. Thank you for carrying retro merchandise such as this. You-all keep up the good work!" - Sharon Kinkade, Leonar, TX

"When I was younger, we always a silver tinsel tree. It just wasn't Christmas without the silver tree. After many years it started to fall apart. Now that both of my parents have passed, I really want another silver tree to bring back all my childhood memories." - Valerie Leight, Port St Lucie, FL

"I want to get one because it is the first Christmas tree I remember having as a small child, and we had a cardboard fireplace and Mom and Dad made it fun. I am one of 12 children and hope I can get this tree and color wheel before Christmas." - linda tobin, riverside, CA

"This tree so reminds me of our Aunt Jeanne and Uncle Al. They always had a tinsel tree, different from our pine. We used to take them Christmas cookies and gifts at Christmas, and we girls would stand in the living room admiring their tree. Thanks for the memories. (Six siblings, 5 girls and a boy.)"-Vicki Dixon,Tequesta, FL

"Each Christmas we put up ours. We first got it when I was seven years old. I loved it and had been searching for one like it for over twenty years until I saw it on your website."-Peggy Farrell, New York, NY

"Bought the 4-foot tree for Christmas 2011. I wanted something with a bit of bling to help pop my small family room. Well, this did the trick! Even had an interior designer say than my family room was one of the nicest she'd seen in a long's nice to see something besides red and green! I put it on a side table, drape the base of the tree and tabletop with a cloth that goes to the floor, and the whole thing reads like a 7-foot tree! And YES you can put the little lights on this tree. Did mine in white lights..looks just like it came out of a VERY expensive catalogue I read. LOVE it!!! :):) - KB Morris, Swannanoa, NC

"Im so glad that i can finally get a sliver tree again. This tree and color wheel meant it was Christmas time. I want to thank you for bringing my childhood back again to share with my children and grandchildren." - George Glass, Prattville, AL

"Just received the 6-foot tree yesterday, and I must say it is really quite nice. It's not the same tree my mom had back in the 60s, but the flavor is really there. I decorated ours with simple Christmas ornaments, and with the color wheel going.........well, it's absolutely beautiful! I am completely satisfied with this tree, and I must say The Vermont Country store has now become one of my favorite new stores to shop from!!! Thanks for providing such unique items and such great service. Can't wait to get my bubble light piece for my mantle!! Thanks, and Merry Christmas to all!!!" - Mark Sheppard, Charlotte, NC

"We just received our silver tinsel Christmas tree with the color wheel. As a young child I recall fondly that my parents decorated this tree with little paper birds covered with sparkles. The tree is perfect. It brings back warm memories of Christmas' past when my father would spend hours decorating our tree and our home. Although Dad is gone now, new memories will be made with our precious silver tree. Thank you, Vermont Country Store, for helping to make my holidays truly special one this year." - Cynthia Lewko-Vermetten, Farmington, MI

"I am one of those who were lucky enough to grow up inthe 60s and had one of these trees and absolutely loved them. For some time now, I have wanted another and went to many second-hand stores during this time of year hoping I would find one. They are out there, but someone is always one step ahead of me. A friend, who knew I wanted one and even decided not to put up a tree 'til I found one, saw a magazine showing the tinsel tree and color wheel and called me with the website. I ordered the 4-foot, but wished I had gotten the 6-foot." - Jackie Lokken, Leal, ND
