As smooth in texture, as rich in color, and as luxurious as its name implies, this amazingly moist Red Velvet cake elicited a "Wow!" from everyone who saw and tasted it here. Normally, this unmistakably red cake with a mild chocolate flavor topped with European-style butter cream vanilla frosting is labor-intensive and complicated to bake. But our volunteer baker said that with this easy-to-make cake and frosting mix, , it's deceptively simple. (And don't worry, you don't have to make as many layers as she did!). This southern specialty is a feast for the eyes as well as the palate.
