Caroler Candles "As I was looking through your catalogue I started to cry when I got to the page with the caroler and angel candles-at first I didn't even realize why. Then it came to me: My mother, who passed away when she was only 55, was really into decorating our home for Christmas and every year we had those candles on our mantle. Every time I page through the catalogue I see something else from my childhood!"

Tired Old Ass Soak "I was starting a new but 'second time around' relationship at an age too close to 60
to discuss and I needed to put a gift package together. Thankfully your catalog came
to my rescue. The Tired Old Ass Soak isn't the only reason my relationship is still
going strong, but it sure helped me show that I have a sense of humor...and allowed
me to test his humor level also."

Tangee "The year was 1957 and I was a budding teenager, dancing to the tunes of the new
'Rock and Roll' music sung by the controversial hip-swinging Elvis Presley, wearing
crinoline skirts, bobby socks, and a ponytail. It was also the time of my first
lipstick, Tangee. My older sister and I would ride the bus to downtown Birmingham, AL
and spend most of our day at the huge Woolworth's store. That was where we found all
our necessities like Tangee lipstick. It was probably the most popular lipstick of
the younger crowd.
When I saw Tangee in your catalogue I mentioned to my husband that it was my first
lipstick. Since we grew up one block apart he must have remembered it too, because he
ordered me a tube for Christmas. When I put the lipstick on Christmas morning the unique
scent and smoothness brought back a flood of memories of places and times when life was
more simple than that of a 14 year old girl today. But I was able to show the lipstick to
my granddaughter and tell her the story. Thanks for the memories, Vermont Country Store.
These old products are not only useful but provide a wealth of story-telling and information
to our younger generations."

One-Piece Footed PJs "Growing up, the only PJs my daughter would wear to keep her warm and cozy during the winter were one piece footed "sleepers." Now she is 29 years old, and lo and behold this
Christmas I discovered one piece footed PJs for women in your catalog. Needless to say I
ordered them and was one of the best gifts I ever gave her. I haven't seen her eyes light
up like that over a present in 15 years. She was as thrilled as a two year old getting a
puppy."

Walnut Potica I ordered a Walnut Potica from the Christmas catalogue for my cousin and her family who live in Boston, Massachusetts. They shared it at a family gathering on Christmas Eve and
said it was delicious. There is no way I could pull myself together during the holiday
season to make a potica. Thank you for making the Eastern European favorite available."

Sugarplums Dear Mr. Orton: "I want to remark about the wonderful products your store has to offer. I did almost my entire Christmas shopping at Vermont Country Store.
"But the best thing I found in your catalogue was sugarplums. I was astounded that you had
them because in the poem ["The Night Before Christmas"] sugarplums are mentioned. I had no
idea how they tasted, so when I received them, I just had to eat one . . . well, maybe more
than one! They were delicious! I hope this coming Christmas your store will carry them again
so, again, I can eat a few of those tasty candies!"

Tyrolean Print Flannel Gown by Lanz of Salzburg
"I want to thank you so very much for your catalogue of lost memories. What a blessing it was this year to find some of
the unique items from yesteryear! When we were children, each Christmas my mom would give us girls a Lanz of Salzburg
nightgown! What a pleasant surprise it was to find the exact same nightie in the catalogue. I purchased one for my
sister, her daughter, and myself to keep the tradition going! Keep up the good work and thank you for your awesome collection!"
